2010 Challenger

Postby Toddyh on Sun Dec 01, 2013 8:50 am

Just bought myself a 2010 Challenger LS. It came with an ARB bull bar, ultimate suspension lift, tow bar and cargo barrier.

First weekend I had it I installed uhf, Narva 175 driving lights and dual battery to boot or camper trailer.

Through the week I installed my new roof racks and bolted on my side awning and roof basket.

Then friday night I built the start of some rear drawers. The base and top is 15mm ply and the uprights are 19mm ply. The right side fits my maxtrax and snatch straps perfectly.

Went for a first run out to Stockton beach on the weekend.

Haha yeah without hosing the road I can't tell you how they are in the wet yet. They do have a bit of a whir noise but nothing like muddies.

Cooper ST Maxx 265/65r17. They will get a run on sand and hopefully some tracks this weekend. Will let you know how they go after that.

Very nice Challenger, looking to buy one, here in Venezuela is called Montero Sport and is a new release these year. Is as good as the Triton?

Yeah I believe it's also called a Pajero Sport is some parts of the world. I think it's better than a Triton but I'm biased ;) I prefer wagons over utes but it depends on your needs.

The tyres got their first run in the wet on saturday. They went really well. I was actually surprised.

I was out at Mt Walker on Saturday too. Some very rocky tracks out there. Have come away with some small chips from the tyres. Not exactly happy about that but in saying that it was crazy rough terrain. Sharp rocks everywhere.

Spent the arvo today installing diff breather and an extra 12V socket. I bought part of a breather kit from eBay and bought the air tube from Clark rubber. I did the rear breather by just running the tube along the top of the chassis rail into the engine bay. Next I removed the centre console and plastics to access the top of the transfer case and gearbox. Found that they actually breathe into each other so left them alone. The black tube in the photo is the breather. The front diff is meant to already have a breather but be buggered if I could find it.

While I had the plastics apart I figured I may as well install an extra 12v socket in the centre console.

=Spent 4 days up in Forster after new years and got to test the Challenger out on some fairly difficult tracks. Met a nice bloke named Aaron driving a Troopy that had done this track before and told me it was 'gnarly' (and he had just come back from Cape York). I said well you can go first then in case I decide to turn around. Thought I'd share some of the videos and pics.
The descent - it's hard to see how difficult the track was but the angles of the bull bar and the troopy lifting wheels should give you some idea.

Put in a new head unit last week. I wanted Bluetooth and this was the simple solution. Has slightly improved sound quality too which is a bonus.

Installed a Runva 11XP winch and built a drawer for the rear on the weekend. Winch looks the goods. Pretty happy with it for $649.
