After looking at 4x4 utes for around 12 months finally decided to purchase a triton glx in February.

First things to do were getting the windows tinted and a tow bar. Decided a rear bar / tow bar was best option so went with the mcc jack bar with a hayman reece wiring loom.

Installation wasn't as quick as I'd hoped, but after few adjustments was able to make it fit. Also the bolts that were supplied were slightly too short and didn't pull thru nylocks, after contacting mcc they send out longer bolts, don't know if this is something to do with it being a my14?

Canopy was the next purchase, after studying the canopy thread decided to go the egr premium with double pop up windows.

Took the triton out on the weekend for the first 4x4 trip (my first 4x4 trip too) to Bendleby ranges in the flinders ranges. Pretty impressed so far managed to keep up with everyone else on the tracks I did. Took a rock to one of the side steps but must have only just got it as it's hardly noticeable.

Next mods will be underbody protection and possibly bigger tyres.

Interested to see how much space is between bottom of the tray and MCC bar. I have been looking at the mcc bar but i have the dual battery sitting on the mits bar and like it there. Just not sure if the extra protection is worth the $$$ and convenience.

I paid $981 for the bar and wiring loom for the trailer plug. Well worth it I think as it already saved me a few times on the weekend.
I decided to go with it because I needed a tow bar and for that bit extra you get the protection at the back too.

Getting it done by my trusty local mechanic Paul Pavlou motors, just in time for a border track trip this weekend.

Other option for fitting was alltrac 4x4 on south road who quoted $520 to fit the lot including brake lines and alignment, just decided to go with the guys I know though.

Thanks Daniel just had a few things done in the past couple of days so once bullbar goes on might start looking at the suspension upgrade.

Nice looking truck.

I have the same colour, and same canopy on its way. Does it keep out the dust OK, or do you need to somehow modify it? Only asking, as I am planning on putting drawers in the tray.

It's not great for dust took it out to Bendleby ranges early this year and I'm still finding red dust. mainly made its way in around the tailgate. Been meaning to seal up but haven't gotten around to it.

Had ultimate suspension lift installed and it feels like a different car, no where near as sloppy as the old stuff. Just need to get draws, battery etc in the back for a bit of weight was fairly bouncy down the border track.

Red dust just materialises in cars. :? You'll never keep that out. The outback's gift that never stops giving. Nearly time to upsize the rubber. They look like hilux wheels at the moment. :o
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal labotomy!

It ain't pretty being easy!!

Have you got the Mitsubishi dust seal kit fitted to the tray? It made a good difference on mine after I fitted one. Still get a small amount in but it still helps.

Hi Daniel
I think the extra weight on the back with draws and canopy makes the drive much better, also if you are making your own draws I can give you a template for the side cut outs if that would help.

I hope it does because at the moment it's a pretty rough ride.

I will have a chat with my brother see if the templates will be of any use. Cheers.
