Phil's Black MN

Well build thread time. The MN is my 5th 4x4, with my evolution being 1) Daihatsu Foroza 2) SWB 96 Pajero 3) 02 Challenger 4) 01 MK Triton 5) 13 MN.

Days 8&9

Wiring the UHF, spot & fog lights in, I almost removed the whole dash, wish I'd read more forums here before I started

1 month saw the ORS rear set up go in. 90L water tank, dual battery and cteck controller, fridge, slide, drawer and storage wings

6 weeks
Roof racks and awning on

That was the first 7 weeks with the MN, since then I have added a helper leaf to the rear to compensate for the weight in the back. Drivers seat spacers from a NTN member (could be the best comfort item to go on!)

Really happy with the Triton, big thanks to Seldom Seen Engineering for all the ARB gear and setting it up how I hoped it would be. Still more wish list items, but content for now

Geez mate you don't muck around  :o

Looks good though.

You do know you'll have to pull that dash off again to fit a filter you didn't know you needed to the aircon intake?

Yeah okay poor joke, only half the dash...

Is that the pollen one?
Might make the most of it and run some spare wires for future mods while I'm elbows deep then.

Yeah I suppose that might be the name of the filter. Try a length or two of 7 core trailer wire, that should give future capacity.

That should cover any future mods. Will make the gland pretty tight in the passenger firewall

Have you used the square hole over near the brake lines? It's hard to remember at the moment but if memory serves it's near the brake booster somewhere and comes out behind your dash on the drivers side.

Other options include up through the floor (there's one under the passenger seat which is where I brought power in for my amplifier), through the back of the cabin (too far for what you're talking about) and I'm sure I read of someone who'd managed to route some cable from up under the quarter panel somehow and down into the area below the front pillars - can't say I've tried that one.

The rubber boot thing will flex once all the tape is off it. Stick something round in the narrow bit to hold it open while you thread the cable through? I think I just dragged it through with a bent piece of coathanger wire. Someone who did later work on my vehicle took the easy way out and just punched a hole straight through the rubber and pushed it through from there and then added a dab of silicon to seal it up again. Not the most attractive, and I wasn't happy with it, but did the job quickly I suppose.

Thanks for the tips, will look for the square one to save having to re-wrap the loom I have coming in the passenger side. Is anyone running a Rhino Pioneer platform on the cab?

Yeah mate, I am. Sorry but it's not the best photo of it, I can try and get a better shot tomorrow. I think our cars were separated at birth!

Light Werx LED light bar fitted, it drowns the IPF's! They are unnoticeable when they are on.

Is the whip antenna on the bullbar for ur radio? Does the platform interfere with the factory radio?

The antennas you can see are for UHF/VHF and HF, but yeah good pick up, the factory antenna does hit the roof rack so it only goes up a couple of inches. I have an AM/FM antenna mounted on the passenger side of the bull bar.

Looking for any advice on car radio interference when I turn on the light bar, have tried a seperate earth from the light to the neg. terminal on the battery, no difference, and the resistance between the light and the bull bar is 0.21 ohms. Any thoughts?

Mine also does this when I turn my light bar on. Only when I'm a bit out of main town though. Mine is also wired up on its own circuit so I was thinking possible earth problem?

I asked the wet seat guys about a cover for the centre console, they said drop in, and they'll measure up and make it, just one of the things I haven't gotten around to doing. In some ways insomniac I'm impressed by ur choices with ur Tri, also a little concerned how similar our train of thought is...

Are you using a ground independent antenna?

Hey Chris, I thought earthing also, hence the seperate earth lead, might try to look for some ceramic washers, or a noise reducer... Hopefully there is an electronics whizz hiding out there who can help us

Light bars have electronics inside them. The cheap bars are not very well filtered and cause radio interference.
Not a lot you can do about the noise coming out of the bar but you can put filtering on your radio.
Could be a time consuming job to solve the issue
