I will probably end up taking it in. I am way too busy at work and my time is short so more than happy for the tax man to pay for it.

on another sad note I have blown the fuse on the 12v lighter socket. Apparently it's part of socket itself. Can anyone confirm please. It's a MN 2014 triton

Not part of the socket in earlier MN models mate and to be honest I'd be surprised if that had changed since.

Swap the working fuse from number 6 (the accessory socket) with the blue fuse at number 2 in the diagram and see if that makes the cigarette lighter work and the accessory socket in the compartment behind the handbrake stop working.

I'm not sure what you mean by the light under the socket. Mine doesn't have one. It does have a small light above it. I actually just put a new globe in mine yesterday as it had blown. Little t5 wedge which I'm thinking I might replace with a red LED instead. The socket itself has a light ring which looks like it should have a light fitted to the rear of it but for some reason mine doesn't have a light in it. Not sure if that's because someone ripped it out when wiring the lighting up for some other switches or whether they just never put one in.

Anyway here's a table that I've done up based on a cut and paste out of the workshop manual for all the fuses in that panel.

This has got to do with my EGT and Boost guages. One of the plugs came out while I was offroad yesterday and I pushed it back it while power was on with a screw driver and shorted out 2 fuses so far.

One fuse was from the light bar at the battery terminal. The second was the lighter socket. Both have been replace.

The guages only work now when I switch headlights on to either parkers or on and ACC on or car running.

The guages are wired up so they are WHITE when no lights are on, or RED when parkers or lights are on,l with ACC on or car running.

I have fused power from my light bar mounted in the panel area. From there I have a seperate fuse and block to supply 12v, acc and illumiation etc.

So I have lost power to the constant illumiation around the socket when ACC is on.

EDIT. loose connection.

all sorted

thx dave :}

Postby SLIMaxPower on Sun Mar 08, 2015 6:08 pm

So I have cross-threaded a nut fitting a new downpipe to my mn triton. its the stud closest to the manifold. You know the one where there is f...all room. The nut is about 1/4 inch from being hard against the flange.

Probably a little exhaust leak but don't really notice a lack of power.

A stud remover wont fit as there isn't any space. I am not sure I could put another nut on as the thread is torn.

Don't really have the time, and more importantly its my workhorse.

I'm in Perth SOR, who could I take it to for a fix ?

cheers

If you wish to have a go yourself, take a nut off and go to a place where lathe tooling is sold, eg:- Hare and Forbes, purchase a dienut the same size and thread pitch. Wind it on and off the damaged thread. DONE!

pass on doing it myself. bugger all room. and i presume the bolt will snap winding it anymore.

Also noticed seat/airbag light on dash. I assume this is from fuses blowing ? how do i reset ?

And..... mini blade fuses from Jaycar don't fit. Where can I get them ?

The airbag light will probably need resetting by a dealer or an auto electrician with a good scan tool.

From memory you need micro fuses rather than mini. I'd be surprised if jaycar didn't have some but otherwise supercheap auto will have them for sure.

Won't be enough to clear the airbag codes if that's what you mean.

So following on from my screw up. Where/What/When/How do I find the measurements for the nuts and studs for the back of the 2014 MN Triton Turbo.

I have cross-threaded the stud with the worst access.

Before I move forward I want to have replacements on hand.

I assume he meant take the nut to bunnings and work it out from there what the threads are etc.

I'm going to guess M8. Nearly everything seems to be M6 or M8.

At the rate that your breaking them mate..give up..
you will probably need the offending item out of your truck So you can get to it..
And you need specialised tools..
Like a stud a remover, locktite, thread guages taps and studs
Personly I'd give it to a professional
It will Probably will work out cheaper in the long run..

In a MN triton where do I run the cable for a reversing camera ?

I found the easiest route was down the passenger side, under the door sill trims (there are spaces for cables) out the rear corner behind the seat (access via the rear wheel splashguard being removed) then along the top of the chassis rail to the rear of the car.

There is a reverse trigger wire behind the passenger side kick panel which is red/green. Alternatively most of them have the trigger closer to the camera in which case you can pop the rear light off and connect it there.

6 inch easiest. Splits in front and 3 way in rear. 6.5 will fit but take a little more persuading.

I'd also grab 4x25mm mdf spacers if it was me. Otherwise you can cut the original speakers out of the plastic spacers they come with but it's a bit of stuffing around.

If you're really patient you can order spacers designed to fit our doors properly on aliexpress. From memory they call them speaker rings or something like that.
