Marks Water Tank

I am about to go on a bit of trip soon, so instead of lugging 20l jerry cans of water around, i decided to put in a 58l dolium water tank. At the same time creating a flat floor the whole length of the tray. Here is how it progressed through the build.

Testing the tank for fitment

Making the frame up. I borrowed this idea from a fellow NTN, who made some draws up out of this "Connect It" tubing, which is really easy to work with. I also added strength to the joins by adding steel brackets in the corners. The frame is very light, but very strong also.

Made the some top panels that follow the contour of the tray, also leaving a space for my camping table to slide down the back to hold it while travelling.

Covered them in carpet and added a water level gauge, and filler.

The pump is a shurflo 4009, 11lpm, which has enough pressure to run a shower head, or clean your truck if your that keen. Also installed the recommended in line filter.

I wasn't sure wether to mount the tap, inside or out. But since I'm going to be drinking this water, i decided to mount it on the inside. It does drip a little when the hose disconnects, but it is not enough to damage any of the marine ply top.

Nice job. I find it much easier than lugging jerry cans about with a built in tank

Hi Staf, I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary. It's only been for one beach/fishing run since I have installed it. I did tackle some dunes and some very cambered ruts and all good. My truck is set up as a tourer, and it makes life a lot easier flicking the switch, and turning the tap than lugging the old jerrys around. And since the floor has been continued flat to the headboard, I actually get more stuff in the back than when I had the void in behind the draws. It's all positives so far :D
