My MN GLX-R Complete

Postby M17 on Tue Feb 09, 2016 6:44 pm

Hello everyone,

Hope you are all doing well this evening. I thought I'd share with you some pics of my Triton now that all the work has been completed. In-case you are wondering what additions have been made, please see below:

ARB delux bullbar with KingOne 9500lb synthetic rope winch
ARB side rails and steps
ARB canopy
ARB roof rack/cage
ARB bash plate protection
ARB rear bullbar and towbar package with under body protection
ARB recovery kit in the back
Custom LED spotties (225w each) :o
Mitsubishi tub liner
Rear view camera
Safari snorkel
2 inch ToughDog suspension lift
16 inch Sunraysia rims
33 inch BF Goodrich mud terrain tyres
Custom plates

All that's left is for me to install the UHF and HF radios, but that probably wont get done till the end of next week. I welcome any and all feedback, tips, suggestions etc.

Have a wonderful evening :)

Its not a complete MN until the engine sh#ts itself like so many have and so many more will.
I asked an old bike racer once "When I grow up if I could ride motorcyles ?" He said "You can't do both young fella !"

To be honest, its not that bad at all. Don't really notice any significant lack of power unless im in 5th, going up hills. Fuel economy has changed a fair bit which I anticipated anyway (now 600KMs from a full tank compared to 750-800KMs)

I haven't unfortunately and I just took off the 33inch muddies last night and went back to factory 17inch allows :( Missed opportunity.

Next time the gear goes on, I will weigh her :)

With the factory alloys and HT's, was getting closer to 800 per tank and with the 33inch muddies and all the gear, would always get between 550-600Ks per tank.

I've now installed a long range, 125lt tank and haven't travelled enough just yet to get reliable figures on range but im guessing will be around 950kms per tank.

Here's a couple shots of my beast on my families Good Friday cruise recently :)

Thanks for the compliments. Everywhere I go, people are always admiring them and asking how much. Only costs me $440/yr to have that custom plate with Aussie Flag background :D

Funny though, because the NSW plate AUS4X4 recently sold for $15,000 online

I couldn't believe my luck when I searched for custom plate availability and no-one had already taken it. I reckon they look awesome on my beast

Cheers

so you have to pay per year for this plate or is it one off amount ? not familiar with per year thing thought I thought they were just one off amount and rest is just normal yearly rego ? but to be honest I thought plates might be bloddy 20k plus

but anyways nailed it there so good job.

Still cant believe you get about 800 kms per tank so that means there is something wrong with my truck?

since my tyres are not that big so why am I only getting 600 that's it

Yes, its an annual fee on top of the usual registration costs. My rig quite easily would hit 750-800kms with factory alloys etc and that was still with the bullbar, winch, roof racks, canopy etc. Not sure why your rig is using so much fuel. Has it been serviced recently? Air filters cleaned?

snakesoup wrote:hi mate truck looks fantastic, is that an auto tune HF antenna on your bullbar ?

Correct. As I do a lot of four wheeling where there is no mobile phone coverage, particularly in the Snowy Mountains, it was crucial to have the HF radio as a backup. The radio I selected was the ICOM IC-F8101 with the matching AH-740 antenna tuner :)

As a member of the NSWSES as well, I find that the HF radio has been more than useful calling in breakdowns/emergencies via the VKS-737 and RFDS HF networks

$3470 as a complete kit including the radio, all mounting hardware, remote head cables, antenna tuner and cables etc.

Even my daughter is learning how to use the HF :D

it depends on which state you are in, Vic is a one off payment & then normal rego, other states you pay every year.
