Hot water shower

Postby JDR182 on Mon Jun 15, 2009 1:10 pm

Just a qustion to any one who has a shower or has seen one fitted to a Triton. I have got a bit under my bonet but would just like to fit one more thing, a hot water shower. I got a good deal on one at a 4x4 show not long ago but I can not seem to fit both the pump or the heat exchanger in. If any one has had one fitted or has seen one fitted I would like to know how it can be done.

As you said the room is the problem.
Would the heat exchanger fit behind you bullbar somewhere, might be a bit tight with your winch though.
Also you would have to run the heater hoses through to it as well, bit of a pita!

Will be interested in seeing how you go with this. I am thinking of getting one put in also.

I would like to do that too, My idea was to mount it high at the back of the motor

I might be able to mount the heat exchanger to the right of the engine behind the air cleaner. just the heater hoses will be a pain. But do not know if i can fit the pump in. Rang some 4x4 shops and Piranha in WA and Melbourne to day but it looks like no one has seen one fitted :? There is not enough room at the rear or top of the engine.

In the future I would also like to fit one. Im not putting a second battery under the bonnet for that reason. Hoping to put the heat exchanger and water pump in that spot. Would be keen to see any fitted up on a Triton too.

Just curious JDR182, Did you end up getting one of these installed?

No
Misses wanted it in before we went home. But it is going to be a big job. I think I can mount the cooler but its the heater hoses that are going to be the proplem.
I've just spent my last two breaks getting my ute ready to go on a one month holiday back over east, so the missis is going to have to wait a bit longer.

Just a note from experience. Dont buy the high flow pump, go the lower flow. It runs water thru the heat exchanger to fast and the water doesn't get hot enough. had one in my old MJ TD. It had trouble getting heated up so had to either restrict the flow or let the water circulate a few times by using a bucket or tub.
