Nice one Rats, you know your three holes you drilled for the top of the snorkel, well mine has come loose. Not my install, how hard would it be to re-tighten it?

Hey Storm Trooper
I would say it took me about 6 hours but I didn't rush anything,I washed the mud and dirt out of the flair's and mud flap and cleaned thing's as i went .I didn't find it hard just a bit intimidating drilling hole's in my truck, the hardest part was bolting it up to the guard without a ratchet spanner it was slow going up near the back of the guard. :D :D

Hey Jitsukablue
Not hard mate just take the bracket of and replace the three plastic blocks in the A pillar you should be able to pick them up at supercheap repco or any good auto shop. One thing I did find was the self tapping screw's where a little long and they where pushing on the inner skin and pushing the blocks out, so i just ground about 3mm off the end and that fixed the problem.
the block's look like this.

Special Tools:

* 95mm hole saw
* 102mm hole saw
* step drill
* pop-rivet gun
* loctite (thread lock)
* Sikaflex 227 (adhesive sealant)
* touch-up paint
Snorkel was $456.00 with postage holes saw's $80.00 Sikaflex 227 $20.88 step drill's thread lock touch-up paint pop-rivet gun I already had so total amount was $556.88 was quoted from arb $700.00 so I saved $143.12.
But saving some money wasn't the only reason, I wanted to have a go at installing it myself.I don't think they are that hard to install it's more cutting bloody big hole's in your pride and joy that put you off. :? :?

you would of saved alot more if you had of borrowed those tools.... like i did :)

got the sikaflex, loctite and holesaws from my cousin and i had the rest.... so i saved almost all of the install cost from arb.

the only thing i bought was the step drill $30 for a decent set.

again well done, now you have the knowledge that the job has been done right.

I have fitted 3 snorkels to to the new triton now. One Safari and two TJM Airtecs. Both were easy enough to install although the TJM was harder to get to the clamps to tighten behind the guard. Both kits supplied screws that are too long for the top pillar mount and were pushing on the inner framework. I just drilled that too to give the bracket more stability. Personally i liked the look of the TJM unit. Not a bulky

Well done rats, good job. Should be picking up my snorkel this week, and with the help of boosted should be fitted soon after.

I wanted to try it myself but my kahunas just aint that big to drill holes in the gaurd. :lol:

I tghink the TJM one does look good but the safari is growing on me more. Im sure they both do a good job.
Plus i dont think there would be too many of us going that deep in water to try them out fully.

I am dreading putting a couple of 12mm holes in the tray to secure my compressor box.. I'd have no chance of pressing the trigger with a 95mm hole saw on the end of the drill :o

There are some things I'm happy to pay for.. or let someone else do it for me :lol:
