Here I go again with that bloody pressure washer. Hope I don't blow holes in the tyres like the radiator.

I have now removed that piece of shite GLX-R towbar and replaced it with the GLX one. Very handy not having to bugger around with the other 18 steps in the instructions to do with wiring. 2 nuts and a cable tie was all I had to do. 8-) It gives about 4 inches extra clearance so I shouldn't be dragging my arse around so much. Made the car look like it had worms. It will also make hitching and unhitching the camper that much easier. I had to be on dead level ground or with the rear wheels of the car higher than the trailer to swing the jockey wheel underneath. :x Now it will be easy with some room to move as well. 8-) That should keep the air around the campsite slightly less blue as I did tend to lose my cool over the bloody thing. Now, I just need to work out how I'm going to modify the rear step to fit.

There is an internal frame which is attached to the tub. I think they're rated to 120KG. I think it's a great setup. Very handy for the long shit from the hardware store etc and will come in useful if I'm out bush without the camper for the second spare.

I was very happy with the way they performed. If I was to have my time again, I would probably make them from ply instead of MDF and drop down to 12mm instead of 16mm. I haven't fully got my head around a decent anchorage system for them yet but will think of something one day. They're fine for sideways/forward/back movement but they tend to jump a bit when offroad. The fridge has knocked the interior light around a bit.

Wouldn't consider just bolting it through the tray Greedy? That's all I did with my compressor and battery box.

I'm tempted but really want to keep it easily removeable. I usually don't have them in there.

Had the 45K service done Wednesday and supplied the fella with the blanking plate for the EGR (Thanks Alex 8-) ). Apparently, my inlet manifold wasn't too bad in terms of carbon build-up, so didn't bother cleaning it out. If I really concentrate, I may notice the turbo start to spool fractionally earlier. Good to have piece of mind though knowing that shit ain't going through the motor anymore. The guy who did it was very cagey when I went in to pick it up obviously not wanting to lend his name to anything slightly illegal. Said something about the EGR valve not working correctly and maybe I should get it looked at in the future. Certainly wasn't going to put it on the invoice.

I also spoke to him about the adjustment on the wastegate actuator (I think. I really know 2/3 of bugger all about turbos. ). He was surprised guys were getting boost increases at all and suggested all it would do is bleed less. Still, you guys with guages have proof. I'll get to it one day when Tars gives me the car back. :x

I finally got around to putting my rear factory bar back on after modding it to fit the GLX towbar. It's only taken since last September. I only want it for the reverse lights anyway so there was no real need to hurry.  Happy with the result.

The pin is stil easy access due to the step profile.

When we catch up next I'll have to have a gander. Had a look the other day and it looked a little more work than I thought. Appeared as though one would have to modify the mounting brackets??

Yep. Cut the mounting bar at the right length then weld the cut bit back on at 90 degrees. This then u-bolts onto the towbar itself.

If I had my time again, I would throw the cutoffs in the bin as they aren't dead flat and start with flat 6mm bar.

Greedy... does that GLX bar just mount straight on to the GLX-R without modifcation; assuming I'm not putting the step back on?

Without knowing about the group buy, I've lashed out and got a set of Hazzard Engineering rock sliders. The side steps have a peculiar banana shape to them after minimal bashings so they had to go. Very happy with the results. Extra clearance and sill protection as well as being easier to clean than the stock mud catchers. Look better IMO as well. Fairly easy to fit by myself using a couple of chassis stands. 8-) Just needed to pop the brake lines out of a couple of plastic clips for the rear mount on the passenger side.
