Haven't revisited this thread in a while. Anyway, the red triton has been reduced to a pile of twisted metal by a combination of the wife driving it and an altercation with the dividing wall of the freeway. After pillaging the wreck for as much as I could and banking the insurance payout, it was a case of trolling the car ads for a replacement. Today it was found. Click to view larger picture
Glad I don't have to fit a snorkel anymore. Never did get up the nerve to cut up that guard.

Cheers Steane. More than I really expected from you. As others have said, the '09 is the most complete package. Anyone have a set of 16" rims they want to swap for 17"? Anyone have a GLX towbar they want to swap for my genuine GLX-R towbar? No step included.

They're the only issues I have with it. The interior is clean and better than what was in mine. Having said that, it hasn't met my childerbeasts yet. The body has a small chip on the trailing edge of the passenger front guard. It's the only fault I could pick on the body. Even the tailgate had no ripples. :o

Not sure on the poxy 4wd diagram on the dash but it's nothing a bit of electrical tape won't cover. Now, I have to work out how to get ARB to cough up a canopy cheaply and also get to work putting sliders, computer, chip, spotties and all the other shit I stole off the last one back on.

That's the problem with them being limited edition I suppose. :? LEPG was second on the list when I bought the first one. True story.

Cheers Steane. At this stage, it's all ideas. The camper has 3 triton alloys so wouldn't mind trying to make a set of those. If I get 1 alloy and your steelies, I could get rid of the 5 x 17" rims/tyres. Does the tyre whore stock rims too?

Cool! 8-) I think I will be onto these unless someone comes through with a set of 5 alloys. That's doubtful as they only come in set of four usually.

Managed to buy a canopy today. ARB smooth finish with lift up side windows, internal frame and roof bars in the colour of the new ute. Found it on Gumtree for $1000 which I think is a good price considering ARB want over $3K and that's without the internal frame or bars. The even better part is it is located only 5km from my house. SCORE!!! :o 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

Started the mods on the new one today. First on the list was sliders. These were salvaged off the wreck of the old one. Make it look heaps tougher. 8-) Couldn't believe that the original steps were actually straight. :o

Now to chase down some suspension to raise them off the ground a bit. ;)

Today, I set about getting power for the list of accessories I have planned. I had it installed in the tub between the wheel arches in the last one with the rest of the space used to house recovery gear. This was impractical as it took a heap of space and the recovery gear wasn't accessible easily when fully loaded. Hopefully, I'll get it better second time round. This is what it looked like last time.

So this time, it's going under the bonnet. TJM battery tray enables a 10" auxillary battery and also keeps everything under the bonnet. Suited my needs as I don't use a great deal of power. Eventually, I will get a fridge that runs 12v but that will run off the camper for extended stays. I still had the Redarc isolator from the red one so was just a matter of buying the battery (previous one was damaged in the crash) and three cables cut to length with connectors already installed. Yep! I'm lazy.

The tray went in no problems and batteries fitted just. Connected it up and it worked first time. Didn't even have any bolts left over.  Not a common occurrance.

You're not planning on leaving that negative cable sitting across the metal above the fuel filter are you?

It's actually sitting about an inch above it. I will move it tomorrow and route it the other side of the batteries. I ran out of light tonight as I had to do a childerbeast run.

I finally got out of bed after a great dose of manflu  and had to answer the door. Turns out it was my neighbour wanting his trailer back which still had my canopy sitting on it. Ok! you can have it back after we've dropped the canopy on the ute. Luckily, I was semi-prepared. We quickly flipped the canopy and stuck the seal along the bottom edge. The rail across the front was already installed so it was then just a matter of re-flipping (burger anyone) the canopy then placing it on the tub. A couple of trims to the tub liner happened before I decided I'd had enough of trying to cut my hand off and the useless space taker came out. Good riddance! :x Turns out the ute tub has had some sort of spray treatment anyway. 8-)

Securing it down was the next challenge. The corners sat slightly proud of the top of the tub so 4 ratchet straps slightly tightened got it into position nicely. Couldn't find a 6mm drill bit to save my life thought so off to the hardware store with the canopy ratcheted down. At this point, I did consider just leaving it like this. Did seem to work and saved me drilling more holes. Would make it nice and easy to get off too. 8-) Anyway, job has been done. Now time to prepare for the big one. Electrickery! Hopefully, that will all happen at once.
