Another Carputer thread?

Postby mjc85 on Fri Jan 01, 2010 6:43 pm

G'day all, have been inspired reading the carputer threads on the forum. And have to decided to purchase the gear to chuck straight in my March Delivered Triton.

Just wanted to ask some questions

I see alot of you have used Lilliput 7" LCD. A new variant has just come out with "auto-switching", so I assume you can tap it on the reverse light wire and it auto switches to your reverse camera?

Also how are the mo-co-so.com carputer units?

I have looked at their site but unsure what one would be best?

Also wondering where you guys run your reversing camera wires? and power source wires for the pc to the battery?

Also with the mounting of the monitor, it is pretty straight forward to mount in the correct place etc?

Sorry for all the questions

Cheers
Mitch

Would this Lillput with Double din bracket be a better option for an easier install than using the supplied stand? Or is the opening when you are installing the LCD not actually a "Double Din" size with standard radio mounting holes?

Mitch still trying to work that out. Will get back to you as I have the 7" screen which was perfect for the ML but now I have the MN and still working on it

G'day mate thanks for fast reply. In your ML did you have screen mounted on standard included stand or with Din brackets? And do you think the MN dash is any different to ML ?

Look forward to hearing.

mo-co-so.com are good... Only issue I have is heat realted... not the PC's fault but more the way and where Ive mounted it.

I also got 2 gig of mem... would probably go with 1 if doing it again.Makes it quicker to resume from hybernation...

Didn't actually get to mount the unit in the ML before it was Written Off but I had a 6.2" monitor mounted there. Used some brackets I manufactured which bolted onto the original display brackets.

The MN surround, which looks the same from on top is slightly different when you pull it out. There is four little metal brackets on the front edge instead of the three friction clips in the ML. Mounting stands for the stereo are the same as the ML but the metal brackets are changed for the different units that go in there such as MMCS, Stereo, display. Will get some photos up when I do my install but this time of year is a little tight for time. Will use my 7" screen for time being.

If you are interested and need one, I have a Cartenix P-2140 power supply that was never installed going cheap. Just PM me.

Hey mate would really appreciate those photos of the mountings so I can try to find a bracket to mount the 7" screen with as opposed to the stand. As for power supply, thanks for the offer but I'm purchasing a dedicated carputer from www.mo-co-so.com which has a power supply built in.

Quinny, if you delete the car radio all together I take it you would need an amp for playing music and radio from the carputer?
