Looks good mate, makes the space much more usable and organised. One thing i noticed, is there enough air around the vents on the fridge, looks like a pretty snug fit ???? cheers Ben :)
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything important, it's too late to stop reading it.

Hey al coholic
There is plenty of room around the fridge that is one thing I made sure when I was designing it, I think the pic and the cover on the fridge make it look closer than it is.
Regards Tim

Hey tookie
Connect-It was easy to use, used a drop saw with a blade for aluminium to cut it all made it nice and easy and square.

Hi Guy's
Today I did a job that i wanted to do since I had the bull bar put on I removed the wing's of the bull bar and modified the washer bottle.I have been thinking about this for awhile, was i going to cut it and glue it or try to weld it I looked at some different glue's but I didn't think it would last so welding was going to be the go.
As I have never welded anything apart from metal I did some net study found out it's not that hard so of I went looking for the right type welder found this on eBay http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... CA:AU:1123 and promptly ignored it and did it my way. :D I went and got my 80wat soldering iron and melted or should I say welded it together here is the results.

I think it came up pretty well I water tested had a couple of little leaks welded it some more then tested again no more leaks. The thing that I did do different was to put the pump on the other side because in it's normal location it hit the inner guard because of being higher up.The bottle still hold's a good amount of water 2.5l I was happy with that. :D

I did that with my ML. Wish I had seen this first. Ended up fiberglasssing mine and it was a PITA. Had three goes at it before it stopped leaking :? And here is me a sparky with ,35w, 80W and 120W irons.

As Homer would say DOOHH.

Well done

Thanks Jop.

Rats can you give us some more info on what you did as far as using the soldering iron, relocating the pump, where did you cut to get 2.5 L etc.

Hi daryn
I will try to explain this the best I can you have to understand it was one of those suck it and see moment's.
When I removed the bottle i looked for the easiest spot to cut not the amount of water I was going to get, I think more luck then judgment for the amount I got.
I cut as shown on the red line in the pic once I had done that there was no turning back.

(I have used jops pic as I have none in its complete form didn't think about pic's until it was together )

And ended up with this.
(Borrowed another pic from ag9111 thanks just found his thread on his washer bottle upgrade.)

Now I wasn't sure if I could get enough flat plastic out of the remaining part of the bottle so I just moved it about on the part of the bottle that I wasn't keeping traced a line around it an then cut it out .

It still left a little gap so I just add a small piece

Then I started with the soldering iron I used it like i was gas welding I had cut some strips of the bottle up into some 3mm strip's so it was like a welding rod.
I tacked the piece to the bottom of the bottle with just the heat of the iron then after I tacked it started to weld it by heating both piece's at the same time then adding the plastic that i had cut melting it into the join.
Again this was the suck and see method  as I hadn't welded plastic before.
Checked the bottle for leak's had a couple of small ones re welded and all was good.

I had to move the pump to the front as it hit the inner guard again only had after shot's

I hope this help's mate, I might have explained it bad and it's sound's hard to do but it wasn't bad to do and I am really happy the way it turned out . :D :D

Rats, huge thanks for what you have just done, thanks heaps. I am sure many others are going to follow this :)

My last question I think, (I may reserve one more :) ), what did you do with the inside fender plastic as before we could screw it to the bottom bar guards which we can now remove ?

Hey daryn
Keep the question's coming mate I don't mind, I hope I can answer them well enough for you.

Here's another pic were I cut the inner guard.

Here is the pic of it cut.

cut doesn't look that straight now, I'm also going to fill in the space at the bottom with a steal plate and i might drill hole in the bar to pic up that hole in the inner guard so it will hold it firm.

When I cut my 5mm Al plate I put in an bit of Al angle and used Tek screws to attach the inner guard to the angle

Be careful when you attach inner guard to the bar - I tried that and the screws pulled through the inner guard due to flex between body where inner guard attached and chassis where bar attached. Using something like a cable tie (not done up too tight) allowed some movement.

I used a idea from ag9111, I pop riveted some angle on the back of the infill so it would hide the cut on the inner guard but i didn't screw it to the inner guard.
I think it has come up pretty well.

Thumbs up Rats. I put my Aluminium under the bar but the way you have done yours is much better. Much tidier. How thick is the steel.
I wont be fixing my inner guards either.

Hi rats, just wanted to say thanks for the advice and the links again.
I've spent the weekend in the shed with the tools and had a go at making a set of drawers that are similar to yours.
The joiners are great to work with and the alloy is easy to cut nice and square. If anyone is considering doing something similar i would suggest giving this idea a go.
