Looking great guys, i think i've been inspired after looking at how much is is to buy something like this from a shop. Only thing i was wondering is where you got your runners for the draws, the amount of money you would save doing this yourself is rediculous. Did you happen to get any pics of the fixings into your tray rat??

Hey Queenslander
The most expensive part of my draws were the runner's they were about $140. a pair 700mm long and rated for 120kgs. Haven't got any pic's of fixing to the tub but if you go have a look at rodw on the newhilux forum he shows how he fixed his down look on page 15.

Hey guy's
just went and bought the new roof vent for my canopy, hopefully it will reduce or stop the dust getting inside the back of the ute.

It looks like my drawers might get a revision. This stuff looks heaps lighter than what I used. Probably stronger too.
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal labotomy!

It ain't pretty being easy!!

As i said i did keep a record of a few things...eg 6.5m of 25mm sq = 2.6kg's, 1m long runners = 4.4kgs,
locks = 250g (ea),sheet of 5ply 2400x1200 = 6.5kg's corner pieces(joiners) x26 = 350g
(nothing better to do with my time)

Hey johno
Awesome draws mate very simple and look good. I have been looking around for ideas for a set in mine and being a chippy i thought just whack a few bits of ply together and she'll be right. since seeing yours and rats ill be off to bunnings today :D i checked out the easyjoin site and just wondered did you use any of the corner strengtheners and how sturdy is it once its finished
Thanks Nick

Nick08
For extended use I would be using the strengthners as the corners are only plastic, tough plastic though. A mate made something similar for the back of his van and it used to cop a flogging all day everyday. Eventually the corners started to break apart and we ended up having to weld a frame up from steel.
His was very high usage though and sometimes used to carry a fair weight.

Thanks for the comments Greybeard.
the "workbench" idea is for when we are on the road and decide to stop for a quick cuppa.
The top sits inside the draw (upside down) and acts as dividers and a place to store the small gas burner, then it just simply lifts out and sits across the top of the open draw.
topped off with a piece of non scratch laminate that i got from a kitchen mob.
I've loaded up a few more photos to my photobucket album if you want to see. http://s90.photobucket.com/albums/k270/ ... %20Triton/
