Dual Battery setup

Well spent most of today putting in the dual battery system as well as adding a busbar to the positive and a single point to the neg to clear the main battery up a bit.

The new fridge i picked up yesterday. Got the bag thrown in and after i fitted it im glad i didnt pay for it as the velcro doesnt stick to the plastic outer of the fridge. Will buy some more velcro and see if i can get it to stick somehow.

All up it cost me $999 thats the batt box made up as you see it , all the cabling and lugs, ando plugs, hella plugs plus a remco deep cycle batt, 100amh, and a amaron n70 main battery.
Big thanks has to go to Matt at battery world Hervey Bay for helping me out and telling me how to wire it all up correctly. They gave me a few free parts and extra cable to cover any problems but was all good.
Fairly easy to install and now will have cold beers out in the bush. :D
Cheers Al

boo ya,

sorry to be a pain in the arse but the baintech battery box is in the tray?

i am about to do something similair as i just bought a 60ltr engel.

the dual battery installs to the engine bay seem a fraction cramped in my opinion.

any chance of another photo taken of the engine bay zoomed out a bit further please?

Snowman, having a 60L engel you may need a bigger 12" battery, otherwise I find it great having the dual under the bonnet with 10" and my 40L evakool.

Snowman, yes the battery box is in the tray and has the isolater under the lid, the round thing with VSR on it. I like this idea because i can take it out at camp and still run the fridge for a day or two using the 100amh battery. ill get another photo up soon for you.

Tex, i dont have covers for them just yet but but yes you can get them and i will be for the very same reason mate.

Another option for remote battery charging is a dc to dc charger

Jop im very happy to have the fridge but still need to give it a workout. Not entirly happy with the way the cover is attached b ut it wont fall of, just need some sort of sticky backed velcro i think, or stickyer than what they come with. :)

Just for reference - i have this unit now and used it over easter, running my arb for 5 days with my 130 a/h using the 1hr charge function once to top up the battery

It works well as a stand alone charger for a separate battery - it does get very hot while in operation, but it does warn of this on the unit.

For the price - $39 on ebay - bloody unreal 8-)
