You're....

Big weekend, Salty. When you're finished doing your front diff do you want to slip up the road a bit and do mine?

How many km on your ride no days salty?

I suspect my bushes are shagged - feels like I'm driving with the body mounted on a large spring.

Ahhh no thanks

I need to leave the front diff in until I get a wheel alignment, it will be out for a couple of weeks at least and I am back to work next week.

Had a split CV boot, grease everywhere, it makes a huge mess

Almost 180,000 km

Mine were completely shagged and would clunk every time I braked or turned a corner and were noisy constantly off road.
Most bumps on the road would send a shudder through the steering wheel.

You can test yours easy, while stationary turn the wheel to full lock and take note of the gap between bush and frame.
Then turn the wheel to the other lock and check the gap again, or have a helper turn the wheel while you watch.

My lower control arms were moving over 1 cm back and forth.

I'm assuming you've gone with urethane replacements?

Much prefer rubber as more flexible and absorb shocks.
Yes they don't lsst as long.
Been there, went back to rubber.

Yes mate, if you are going to go this path there is two types.

The ones I bought are made by Whiteline, they have less contact area with the chassis mounts and will be less prone to squeaking. These ones...

http://www.whiteline.com.au/do_segue4.p ... F2006-2015

The other type looks more like the rear spring bushes and have a larger contact area with the chassis mount and could be very prone to squeaking, like these....

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SuperPro-Con ... 2056494100

Mitsubishi wanted about $80 per side for the standard rubber lower control arm bushes.
They could only supply new upper control arms already fitted with the rubber bushes for over $400 each.
Wasn't a hard decision to make

I paid $150 for an aftermarket upper control arm already fitted with rubber bushes and ball joint. 8-)
Didn't use the new ball joint as mine is still good, in fact all four are still good :D

I haven't noticed any difference yet but i certainly did with the rear spring front eye bush.
The rubber is much better 8-) 8-)

Good work Salty I'll have to go check mine one day... I'm still on my originals so they're probably rooted too.. I've got a few unexplained noises under mine atm but I'm too scared to look these days.

I think it was about this time last year when I last gave it a service.

  They seem to go quickly and the front gets real noisy all of a sudden.

From the trips and punishment yours has done SRB you would be in need of a new set of bushes.

If you want rubber follow the Ebay link above, waaaaay cheaper than Mitsubishi and seem to be the same by looking at them :?

Dave i am sure yours, sorry your friend's, gets serviced on time 8-) :P

Yeah, I have now learned the hard way.

After a couple of weeks back at work I noticed the difference between worn rubber and the Nolathane bushes.
Last week had a good run out West along lots of gravel roads.
I was shocked at how much road noise the Nolathane bushes transfer into the cabin, two to three times the noise.
I could put up with the feedback through the chassis from the bumps in the bitumen road but that noise was a deal breaker for me, I ordered some rubber bushes and fitted them today.

I actually broke the 12 tonne press whilst pressing in the new bushes
Not sure what happened but there was a bang and the control arm fell to the floor and the bottle jack does not work anymore. Typically it is just out of warranty  Oh well I will buy a 20 tonne bottle jack to replace it...

Quick drive out the road ( lots of bumps and potholes, bitumen ) Yes much better :D :D

Never again will I use Nolathane bushes except for the rear spring eyes on the rear leaves, they are greased regularly so no problem.
The front eye bush of the rear spring will remain rubber.

I can't get rubber bushes for my front eyes, mine too big... I'd have to run the smaller MK mains or factory mains.

The MK rubber bushes fit mine ?

I wink it would be worth taking some measurements, unless you already have ?

Yeah already spoken to Brendan about it, apparently you must have the older mains. Can't remember the measurements now but it wasn't much in it.

How would it go with the urethane bushes on the suspension area and softer bushes on the body mounts?

This may firm up the handling and help isolate vibration from the body.

Urethane bushes are hard as. Body or suspension, you will feel it.

Must be bloody hard alright! :lol

I'd probably start with urethane in the sway bar bushing and shackles on the back.

The Urethane bushes transmitted a heap of feedback and noise.
Considering the body mounts are already rubber I don't think the feedback or noise would be reduced.
