Yeah it's good stuff. That and Araldite fixed our radiator in Tassie.

Salt have u checked that u dont have electrolysis going on i had a similar issue with my sisters car it would do a radiator every year until i worked out after doing some research turned out i had to use genuine holden coolant in the common door. Been 5 years now could be worth looking at ill see if i can find the info on how to test

So after the second attempt at fixing leaks and still have a leak I am going to throw the alloy radiator in the bin :x

Not wasting any more time on it

So will put the standard one back in for now so I can drive around until I can afford to buy another....

Will be interesting to see how well it works, being winter and cold I expect it will be ok.

I have not tried the stock radiator with the big thermo fan yet, who knows it may work fine :?

What is the thickness of the oem one you put back in?
I recently purchased an replacement for $300. Identical to oem.
I'll measure the thickness in the morning and let you know.

Oem is 12mm I think. Radiator shop can get a replacement with 27mm core, will grab one of them and see how it goes...

You can use the one I removed from mine to test it's suitability if you like.
Was still working fine, I removed it as a precaution. I'll measure and let you know.

I put the stock 12mm radiator back in today and it works fine, when the thermo fan starts the water temp cools quicker than the big radiator

See how it goes, i don't think it will be adequate in the summer though :?

I tested for electrolysis and got less than .01 volt so no problem there.

I think it was combination of cheap radiator, Alloy not handling the vibration and a hard life

Anyway lesson learned, buy Australian !

Salt, offbeat question about your exhaust.

What combo of cat convertors are you running? Single, 2 or all three?

Unfortunately mine had the 2 front ones die, so I had them cut out, now only running 1 hi-flow cat. CEL is on of course, but exhaust barks a bit too much now... So, it's either put the CEL modifiers in, or 2 new cats...

Cheers,

Your unit is rapidly turning Frankenstein there salt. Looks mean.

Having just gone thru the radiator sagas with my son's jeep, research suggests the all alloy radiators aren't worth persuing for normal use, issues with weld quality, metal thickness, etc.

I've been toying with the idea of having a thicker but shorter core and then running an intercooler core across the full width in the freed up gap above. This should provide a larger IC and shorten the air plumbing.

Mate I have put the original back in for now so I can drive kids to footy etc.

Have noticed that the outside temp is reflected in the coolant temp...

Outside temp 10 degrees, coolant temp around 80 degrees.

Outside temp 15 degrees, coolant temp around 83 degrees.

I am not sure the stock radiator will be adequate in Summer temps of 40 degrees, then again the coolant temp reduces very quickly when the thermo fan starts so who knows...

As I am lazy, will probably wait and test the stock radiator in Summer and see what happens

I have had a frustrating Bluetooth day today

I installed a new head unit (Kenwood) and am using the bluetooth with my work phone.

Each time I start the car the Factory Parrot would try and connect to my work phone making it beep every 20 seconds or so until I pick up the phone and cancel it

So I found the Parrot tonight and choked it
Well not exactly but I did find two fuses that when pulled disable the stupid Parrrot for good :D

It is under the front of the centre floor console thing where the gear shift levers are....
