Dad's truck - Bruce Almighty

Thought it about time a posted a few pictures of the transformation of the beast, so here goes.

This is the only photo I can find without any mods. Was taken on Fraser Island.

Canopy was brought of ebay for $1000 and cost me $400 to ship it up to Brisbane

Suspension first up (2" Dobinsons) then Cooper ST's. Apart from tyres, this is about the only mod I didn't do myself.

Things you can't see:-
Chip-It power chip
Scanguage II
Redarc battery isolator. Cable running to tub with Anderson plug for fitment of auxillary battery in box.
3 degree castor wedges
Diff spacer
DiD seat spacers
DBA slotted rotors and Bendix pads
gearbox spacers

That's about it really with just a few small things left to do like on board air and water.

Also tossing up whether to fit a colour coded steel tray with canvas conopy. Not sure about this because I really like the look of it now, but a steel tray would give us heaps more useable space for camping etc.

Thanks for comments and suggestion BG. :D

borngeek wrote:PS> colour code the flares!! but platoon or black..... hard call...

I really like them in black like this

but the only problem is if they are satin black I think they will get too many bush stripes and then they'll look shit. Black with gloss clear would be more durable but wouldn't tie in with the satin black bar work and wheels. So I either leave them grey or paint them platoon. I'm leaning towards platoon green :D

Thanks daryn :D . I managed to grab a few bargains along they way (helps that I can trawl the interweb thingy all day at work) and did all the installations myself (except for the suspension).

Nice one pop...I mean Dad.

Looks awesome. It's amazing the difference the bigger tyres make to the look. You can do anything you like, but until you put decent sized tyres on it doesn't look right.

Powder coated alloys came up well!

I think BG is right about painting the flares and I have a feeling black would look best ;)

All of our Tritons are just growing up so fast...

Like I've said before mate. In the flesh this is one of the best or most complete looking Tritons I've seen.

Like the new black alloys too. After seeing yours and Brett's I will be talking about doing this myself for ages...mr 90%

Homer you bloody crawler, what would snowflake think :?:

Nice job " DAD "..... :D

As for the wheel arch extensions, I would leave them just the way they are, thus maintaining the character of the ML.

Best go wash it now............don't want a dirty truck for the get together.

Dad's truck - Bruce Almighty

Postby Brett05 on Sat Aug 28, 2010 5:17 pm

Looks good Joe, the black flares will look great.....my only concern, and it applies to my truck as well...is the black flares look great in daylight hours, but at night they make the wheel arches look bloody huge. Photoshop them the same colour as you truck and see what they look like, and show all of us.
If I pushed a copy of myself off a cliff, because he was swearing. Could I be charged with making an obscene clone fall ?

I tried that Brett but my limited photoshop skills mean I can't get the flare colour to match exactly

^^^^ Joe i have the same trouble, I was just tyring to photoshop your flares platoon green but it doesnt seem to work.... I think maybe an original photo in half light with no shine on the body whatsoever would be the only way to photoshop the flares.....

Tried with my Triton as well and no good :( the colour is too hard to match and I am still a beginner :D

Getting the perfect photo to work from is the hardest part

edit: oops I'm a bit slow...

Yeah you're right Brett. I photoshopped one wheel then cut and pasted it to the back. Looks good with rear discs though hey 8-)

 You tricked me Joe, I actually thought it was a disc ....

Well done, it does look good though :D

Now I think about it the caliper for rear disc brake is on the front edge of the disc and not the rear
