timbo's build

Postby timbo on Mon Jan 03, 2011 10:06 am

hi all i have been reading alot of post's about how to build a good triton. the info i got from this site has really helped alot as this is my first 4x4 i wasn't sure what my triton was able to do and had no idea the market was so big just on triton gear. i started with putting in a kenwood nav unit in the dash alot of work that was then went looking for what the best bar work was for me i went with arb delux bar with side rails and steps all colourcoded. i went down to my local 4x4 shop to talk suspension i went with lovells got about 55mm out of her, it has a slight shutter had the shaft modified but i the mechanic told me my center bearing was shot had a good look and found the rubber had cracked. i had decided to go for 285/75r16 bfg km2 with 30mm offset wheels and im loving them really working well i do get a little scrubbing when at about 3/4 lock and pushing her but not bad. and just put in a uhf unit this weekend. im hanging out to get the rest done im really in need of a snorkel and whinch but also have plans for more power 285's seem to have taken more than i thought. pics are in my shed as i haven't figured out all this as yet

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

So a bit more work has gone into the rig over the last few months installed a canopy and trademan rack that i brought off ratstriton, great bloke helped with intall come up great. On the rack i have put on the jack and shovel holder on the drivers side and on the passanger side i fitted a roll out ironman awning 2.0m long and rolls out 2.5m.

The most latest is i fitted a turbosmart boost controller and autometer boost gauge easy to install the hardest thing was talking myself into drilling the hole in the dash  but love the way it came up

i have also installed a EGR blank and an oilcatch can after i had my inlet manifold changed to stop the carbon crap comming back

now just looking to do a bit more in the tray as in draw units to keep the gear from rolling around and a bit more organised for camping trips.

The reversing lights are a set of fog lamps from autobahn just screwed them up with self tappers would have been easier if the rear step not on they work great with the reverse cam at night

I alway like a good fridge slide, but I just LOVE the idea of the lights on the inside of the canopy door. Fantastic job, well done. :) :)
