Yeah Craig, I know what you mean. I am still waiting for my cc to go back to a solid state before I lash out on suspension and front and rear bars.....poor thing has had a hammering since I joined this forum

back to you Steve, what sort of side steps are you thinking of...just sliders or full length with scrub bars :?:

Looked at ARB but their not as strong as i thought they would be and ive seen some as badly bent as STD steps ... i like the ones that the group buy done on here ... but their bloody expensive Powerful 4x4 are apparently making a very good set ... and a reasonable price ... i want to look at these
i also found a place that makes twin tanks for the ml too i posted on it in fuel systems if you want to look

I can recommend the ironman steps. They are well made, bloody heavy which indicates that they arent cheap $hit thin walled tube and they fit well, the attachment U bolts are decent as well. I reckon they would take a fair hit and come out okay, not that I have tested them that way, but it would be worth checkong them out if you could find someone close to you with them on their truck.

I did see the post you put up about the twin tanks. I remember reading something about them, I am sure it was on here somewhere and there was something not quite right about them. Sorry I am old and have CRAFT disease at times  I was going to have a search and see if I can find the thread.

cheers

looks great without the steps.....I wonder if SWMBO would miss them

When I destepped mine my missus accused me of putiing a lift in it. She knew it was harder to get into but not why   I had my boys worded up to keep quiet and see how long she would take. I hadn't had the chance to speak to my daughter and when i picked her up the first thing she said ws "Where are the steps"
So I was busted anyway. She keeps saying put them back on.
Do you think she'll notice the ironman steps when they go on

Its better to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission!!!!!!!!

It look's like the sliders and brush bars are not going to be priced as reasonable as I was told. :( :o

they must be the brush only - look at the weight difference.

I would say the weight for the brush bars is a typo???..maybe 15kgs???...........no way those things would weigh 150kgs

The weight for the sliders is probably about right i would of thought
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything important, it's too late to stop reading it.

if they were made of real decent heavy wall tube (60+mm :o ) i reckon that the sliders and brush bars to both sides would go close to 150kgs.

it would be interesting to see the structural side of them and how they mount to the chassis. Any pics of that ?

No pics on how they mount, I saw a set on a gu at the 4wd show and they look as strong as some of the sliders that are available.

Mate, ace lookin truck. Everything about it you've done right. How do you find the Pedders set up? I've had them do a variety of vehicles for me but never a twin cab ute, so very curious about ride, handling and axle articulation when the going gets rough!?!? Cheers, Lonso.

Nothing wrong with your reasoning ... BUT if you remove them and look you will see the chassis hangs about 40 mm or more below the sills and the only reason the steps get bent is to protect the chassis   it would be a very high rock on the outside of the chassis .. and were talking 300 mm toward the outside of the ute that would hit a sill ... you have to look to see what i mean ... if your talking ramp over .. your sills are safe

I have never seen a flat rock in the scrub yet and know that the damage that has been done to the side steps on mine would have caused sill damage. 100% certain.
