Looks good Mark. And yeah, the jack looks way to close in the picture.

Also, do you think it's a good idea to attach the awning to the canopy and the cab? The tub can flex by as much as 20-25mm and I'd hate to think what that would do to the canopy mounts

Homer, the pic looks worse than it really is but still, it is closer than I thought it should be. Luckily there is no movement so far that is causing any marks, but I havent had it over a gravel road yet. I am thinking of packing it up a bit and see how it goes. I think some high lifts must have a shorter foot than mine.

Joe, I thought the same thing mate but the alloy extrusion that the awning slips along is fairly flexible in its length so I will keep an eye on it. But your right mate, the tub does mover fairly independant of the cab so again, its something to keep an eye on.

I have seen other awnings just bolted to the cab racks, but they sit a fair way forward, I much prefer mine sitting rearward like this.

thanks guys..... :D

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything important, it's too late to stop reading it.

thanks guys, I have owned 4wd's for the past 25 years so I know pretty much what works and what doesnt. Admittedly I have mostly owned bush bashers and mud pigs but I have done alot of camping as well. It gives you a good idea on what is needed for a tourer.

aaaahhhh, the old petrol Vs diesel debate.....all I will say is that I love my petrol ML, I have had some thirsty 4wd's over the years, V8's and all sorts of petrol Cruisers, the ML is economical when you start comparing it to a 100 series or GU petrol wagon

Great looking job, I was wondering if the roof racks were hard to fit? I am after the Rhino type and was going to take mine to TJM to have them fitted.

They're easy to fit mate, come with drawings and instructions...assembling them took the longest :?

Agreed, Mark be carefull as my cab has severe tub dimples on one side now, actually broke the mount for the plastic piece at the front of the tub and scratched the cab half way down, hmmm should take a photo........

Oh  my point being the tub does move and probably closer to 30mm in my case

its been a while since my last post, I have been busy saving bottle tops and 20c pieces.

Its all been worth it though, I have my Ultimate 2 inch lift kit here (with preassembled struts) thanks to Brendan and my Opposite Lock winch bar arrived today from SA

I will fit them both early next week as we are heading away to the shack for Easter, so if you're in Hobart next week, drop me a PM, could use a spare set of hands

pics to follow next week ;)

thanks Craig, it will fit the bill and give me some protection from suicidal animals..... picked it up cheap too ;)

I was hoping the bar would arrive earlier this week so I could have had it fitted before we go away for Easter, but I should be able to get it done early next week, cant wait
