You'd want some internal baffles though so might lose a tiny bit there. It wouldn't be the end of the world if it sat a little proud either side of the tubes (front and rear I mean, hope that makes sense) just to give you the extra capacity. I wonder if there's a way you could have the bottom of that tank part continue down lower than the level of the 'deck' part of the tray? Would give extra height then as well and more capacity again.

Seeing your avatar reminds me of the vinyl wrap. How is that travelling now that it's been on there a while and been through a summer? Still looking okay and everything? I quite like the whole wrapping concept but have never seen anything about the longevity of the stuff.

When its clean  it looks as new as the day it was put on.

One thing they did tell me was that the matte / satin wraps are a little harder to keep clean then the gloss. They advised a wipe over with Mr. Sheen before hitting the tracks. Puts a bit of a protective coat over it and makes it nice and easy to clean. The heat has done nothing to it, which is awesome.

The only thing I would suggest is that if your kids like drawing in the dust on your car, make sure they dont do it on thw wrap. Had a smiley face on mine for a few washes

Cant see why you couldn't drop the tank lower then the tray, could get up to 60 ltrs in that bad boy would just need to make sure it can gravity feed to the main tank as added pumps is well over my head

Should still gravity feed since it will still be higher. Need to factor in where the filler cap will go since they're not the most attractive items but you'll need it up high I suppose. I'm guessing you'd fit the feed with a tap or something though so you could isolate that tank if needed?

I've seen 3M has a special cleaner for their films too. I've seen a couple of full vehicle wraps on facebook lately that looked superb. Just a shame the stuff is so expensive or I'd wrap the sides before every trip.

Dad took some happy snaps of the rig on the weekend using his dlsr set up for infared shots.

That hasn't stopped me from dreaming though. I love the look of the tubs on the Tritons but have seen some very cool trays of late which has got me thinking. What would I want in a tray. Got some ideas together and have wacked together some dodgy MS Paint sketches.

Each of the 3 trays would incorperate the following.

- Headboard tubing would be pressure tested and act as a compressed air tank
- Headboard would have an integrated aux fuel tank that gravity feeds to the main tank.
- Hatch under the floor to house a compressor and water pump
- water tank between chassis rails
- Jack Off Camping Box
- Recessed tie down points in the tray floor for when the camp box is removed.

I aslo wanted it to look like a comp tray but to be useful for touring. So its a mix of tube and box section. Main deck area is the same size as an ML tub with the added angle bit bring it near the MN tub length. Anyway I have 3 ideas down on paper at present

Tray 1

Tray 2:
Only difference is the rear wheel arch design. Tubing runs to the rear of the tray. Mesh or a tool box could be added here.

Tray 3:
Tray 3 is a little more standard as it looses the spare holder. As such there would be no spare when the camp box is removed so if I went this way I would swap out the current roof rack for the one attached below.

Centre has 2 22inch light bars, sides have 9inch bars at an angle. The cage aslo goes above the tyre to allow timber / kayak etc to be strapped on on the odd occasion.

These probably will never happen for me but has been a bit of fun thinking and designing.

Thoughts?

If you start custom making these I will definitely be up for one..I have factory canopy which is crap and want something custom in the future sprayed black to match the truck as factory canopy just not big enough.. You have done wonders with your truck, looks amazing.

Or if you do your dream custom build can I please be the first in line to buy this one? Lol.

Well the rig is in at the machanics. Daily P0601 engine codes were driving me insane but thanks to TritionWreckers and their manifold exchange service she is getting a nice and clean upper and lower manifold installed :D. Hopefully that will take care of the codes.

Today they are looking into a steering issue. It is like the power steering isnt working until the engine is warm and then its not returning to centre like it should. There is also a pretty bad grinding noise when she is in full lock right but only when in reverse. They are flushing the power steering today and will then see how it goes. Otherwise it might be a replacement steering rack from tritonwreckers.

Either way I have a good feeling the bill is going to hurt :(

We had that steering issue in the 2010 mn (one you saw, your rims went on). Was a power steering pump failure. Ours replaced under warranty. Happened just weeks before the 5 yr warranty ended.

I havent spoken to the mechanic yet but he has stated on the invoice that the power stearing flush hasnt resolved the issue. So it looks like a new power steering pump, rack or both is in order.

Thankfully this invioce was nowhere near as painful as I thought it would be but they tend to look after me :D

Did he itemise the manifold removal and instal
Thinking this is the next thing on my to do list
Prefer to have someone do the work if not too expensive

Not keen on the cleaning part though

Mine should be good (blank for years) but you never know, and my fuel economy has never been great

Yeah, not bad really given some of the figures I've seen posted on facebook and other forums for just the upper manifold.

Given I've got just shy ok 200 000 on her its actually not that bad. To the best of my knowledge (bought the car with 78 000) this is the first time the manifolds have come off.
