Well the wind booster is in and happy days!! The throttle responses is great, car feels so much more responsive. I am driving around with it on P1 lvl 6 which seems to be a happy level for my driving style.

I was keen to see how this thing worked so took the below video.

First setting is with the Wind Booster off, then cycling through the default settings (Econ Lvl 4, P1 Lvl 4, P2 Lvl 10) I had the throttle on 1400 rpm and didn't move my foot at all, just let the wind booster do its thing :ugeek: 8-)

The clutch going in is the Exedy heavy duty. Given the rigs got 180k on it already hopefully this one will see out the car (while I have it as a daily driver anyway ;) )

This mod came around due to swapping out my iPhone for a Samsung. In the change I lost the ability to plug in the phone and have all my tunes on demand. It meant swapping out the iPhone aux cable for the factory aux cable. Just swaping the cable wasn't all that exciting so ended up doing some research.

Found a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite is a pretty good size for what I wanted to do.

It was then out with the dash hood and the dremel.

A couple of cuts later and it was ready for a test fit.

I needed to do a bit more cutting then I would have liked and have had to hack the crap out of mount for the trip computer.

Click to view larger picture it ended up much more slashed then the above.

Given the factory aux cable doesn't charge I had to add in a charger. Jaycar didnt have the one I wanted so I went with this until its ordered in.

Power is coming from my little power station set up for all my internals. DVD Headrest, Tablet and an extra merit plug for the waeco cooler.

The final product I'm happy.

So now I have my tunes

HEMA Maps

Torque

And the usual apps

The install was a heap more work then expected and I had to take it to the auto elec as I yanked the wires out of the stereo plug trying to get the iPhone aux plug out. Torque needs to be set up still too.

End of the day its different, does what I want and looks pretty good IMO, so Im a happy camper.

Very cool
When my double din finally dies I reckon that is the way I'd be heading

Does the Samsung accept video in

That has always been the sticking point for these installations with regard to reverse cameras

I finally wore through the stitching holding the leather on my nob. Turns out there is a pretty good plastic one underneath. It'll do till I find an aftermarket one Im happy with.

Since my baby girl now takes up the dogs seat I had to sort out a new spot for the pooch. She seems happy enough behind the mesh but misses the ac.

The next addition was a new trans plate for the manuals. Simon from custom offroad used my rig to measure up the differences between the auto plate and the manual plate.

Simon came round on wednesday to test fit. It fitted :D

Now have the complete set!

Rig is back in the mechanics....again. Had a bad run with reliability of late. Had issues and had to replace the clutch about 2 months back, then she was in for surging about 4 weeks ago. He did an upper manifold clean which seemed to fix it. Went to Gordon Country on the G20 long weekend and ended up with a knocking and massive shudder under the car following that so it was in again last week, now back today as I got a CEL this morning as its been surging again.. Grrrrr! Im dead set sure its the SCV playing up and hopefully the cel shows that but mechinic is keen to do the manifold clean again and isn't too interested in my SCV ramblings

Manifold clean again after only 4 weeks? Wtf? Time for a new mechanic would be my feeling about that.

Yeah, not to happy about it CD. About to call to see if the code shed any light on the issue. When he says manifold clean Im not actually sure what is done. I dont believe it was pulled off and cleaned but was more a spray maybe??? I don't know. Complete lack of mechanical knowledge can be a prick at times.

SCV is being replaced so a win there for me. Will have to grab the resistor mod from Tony as well as the egr is also playing silly buggers apperently.

:D ordered the egr control module through Boyce at 4wd supplies. Will have my rig running sweet again by Christmas hopefully.

Next step, setup Torque properly so I can clear those pesky engine codes

So, got my rig back and she's running sweet again. SCV was replaced, service done, air and fuel filter replaced as well as a couple of other minor items. Am very much hoping that the reliability I am used to is back.

Also purchased a little something extra.

Re: Rig Jnr's Build

My build is currently going nowhere as I have no cash for the big ideas and am fast running out of little ideas

That hasn't stopped me from dreaming though. I love the look of the tubs on the Tritons but have seen some very cool trays of late which has got me thinking. What would I want in a tray. Got some ideas together and have wacked together some dodgy MS Paint sketches.

Each of the 3 trays would incorperate the following.

- Headboard tubing would be pressure tested and act as a compressed air tank
- Headboard would have an integrated aux fuel tank that gravity feeds to the main tank.
- Hatch under the floor to house a compressor and water pump
- water tank between chassis rails
- Jack Off Camping Box
- Recessed tie down points in the tray floor for when the camp box is removed.

I aslo wanted it to look like a comp tray but to be useful for touring. So its a mix of tube and box section. Main deck area is the same size as an ML tub with the added angle bit bring it near the MN tub length. Anyway I have 3 ideas down on paper at present

Tray 1

Tray 2:
Only difference is the rear wheel arch design. Tubing runs to the rear of the tray. Mesh or a tool box could be added here.

Tray 3:
Tray 3 is a little more standard as it looses the spare holder. As such there would be no spare when the camp box is removed so if I went this way I would swap out the current roof rack for the one attached below.

Roof rack if going tray 3.

Centre has 2 22inch light bars, sides have 9inch bars at an angle. The cage aslo goes above the tyre to allow timber / kayak etc to be strapped on on the odd occasion.

These probably will never happen for me but has been a bit of fun thinking and designing.

Thoughts?

Tex, at a guess, around 40lts. Thats based on a tank thats 65x1550x400mm. The 65mm is the same depth as 2 2.5inch tubes, width is 1550 (1680-1700mm total tray width) and 400mm high (a rough measurement from top of the current tub wheel arches to the bend in my current canopy, about 1/2 way up the rear window). You could play with these but 40ltrs is a safe bet.

Gives you 115ltrs total, so not bad ;)
