Dan.Batto's Build

Postby dan.batto on Thu Nov 24, 2011 3:24 pm

So now that I got the king rims I have an issue! The old spare wheel winch bracket is too small. So I made this up.

So the pinch weld and tape are there because I made it out of steel and dont want to scratch the shut out of the rim plus they add grip to it.
And the strap is safety measure as I haven't used it yet I'm not sure it's going to work

What I want to know is people's opinions.... Will it work or will it fail miserably??
Don't really want to loose the spare wheel at that price, hence the blue strap for now.

I was told by the guy who sold me the wheels the mk triton one is a bigger plate an should fit. (mattz has done it I believe). This is just a temp measure til I can get my hands on something better.

As long as someone is following you wont lose it

I had mine on the roof racks up the HC 2 weeks ago and the strap i used (same as yours) got chewed out on the steel edges of the rim. Lots of vibration.
Luckily it just fell through the gap and sat on the roof of my canopy  and didnt come off. Lucky I saw it too I guess, so wouldnt rely on that strap mate ;)

Dan.Batto's Build

Postby dan.batto on Sun Dec 11, 2011 9:28 pm

So today I threw in the tjm battery tray, and I have the red arc isolator etc ready to go in. Just deciding which battery to get. Been doing a tonne of research but everything has me confused now, the deep cycles will keep the fridge running longer but the regular battery will charge quicker. Any thoughts and opinions welcome!!!

So with that I had to move the provent! All the way to the other side it went.

Also installed te uni-filter! WOW! u can't believe the difference an air filter can make! And that noise is cool too! :D :D
I'm hoping I installed it the right way up. (mesh facing up so as it sits down into the box?)

Photos to be added when I finish the dual battery mod.

Dual Battery system is up and running! :D
Used a TJM under bonnet battery tray, Red arc smart start isolator, going to get an arb overide switch. So still to wire that up, but i now have it running my tub lights, driving lights and air compressor.
I wired up a fuse box which has been screwed on top of the engine bay fuse box. Also ran a wire to under the drivers seat where i am in the middle of making up a box to place in a couple of 12v plugs, this will all via an anderson plug so as i can easily remove the box.

Very happy with it and will throw up some pics once i have finished 100%

So here are the pics of the dual battery and 12v socket box I built including the engel fridge socket.

Not the tidiest setup but am happy with it for now, maybe might try tidy it up in the future. Red arc isolator mounted at the back.
