Thought I would get something better than the $5 cheapies I have used in the past as I'm wiring a permanent USB/ hdmi connector to this area for the pioneer head unit

Reworking the dash area switches and storage space
Wasn't real happy with the switches right down low

But it was the only area available as the uhf was where the radio used to be and I had a bounce din up top

But then another option became available when the challenger was released with double din and info screen, but will it fit a ml


Hood fits with just a little trimming of tabs near the windscreen, small icom uhf fits where info display usually sits and double din works

This allowed me to move the switches up to the centre, I got a couple custom made (auto lockup and low range 2wd) so I have matching design and colours


So I found a single din storage pouch to go down low where I used to have switches, some more trimming required but not much and this can now hold 2 phones, something really lacking in the ml model

Now just to finish it all up

I used Pajero rear brakes that matched my axle diameter all but a bolt on fit. There needed to be a machined ring as the Triton hub and Pajero hub were different sizes

Needed to adapt a universal handbrake cable, but that part was the worst performing part as not made for 4wding

Need to replace at some stage as not happy but I can workaround being a auto, would have needed to have corrected if it was a manual by now as barely holds and now non adjustable, seized

Doing it again I would adapt the factory setup to work if at all possible

Rear Discs sounds like a good option.

Also like the Challenger option for radio etc. The idea of having computer low is not a good idea I think. What year Challenger did the surround come out of and do you only need surround?

I cannot remember the year of the challenger but it was the second series PC like mentioned above. If you search in the forum there is a Mitsubishi part number for the exact item
