26 did you upgrade the front as well? Say using the Challenger calipers or similar? Sorry if I missed it in the thread.

I always thought the standard Triton calipers as nothing outstanding.

challenger calipers are the same as the triton, so there would be no gain
I added rear disc brakes to the triton rear end

I feel they have provided a benefit to the overall braking from what I had previously, and working through the factory ABS if they apply more force and lock up, then additional force is applied to the fronts, net gain or vice versa.

for me the additional benefit is the ease of maintenance, just wash down, previously after a trip to glasshouse would have required me to take off the wheel and the brake drum to clean out and readjust, or else deal with worn out brakes, I have done a few shoes and drums as well as pistons etc in the past (the mud is sandstone based so quite abrasive) and sometimes driving in water is unavoidable, even though I hate mud.....

I thought the Challenger calipers were twin piston... must confused with the Pajero set up.

Definitely a plus with clean up :) with the rear disc set up. Nothing like the sound of coarse sand chewing a drum and shoes to bits after soft river sand crossings :x

Confused the hell out of me when I noticed the MN has drum rear brakes. I didn't think there was any modern passenger vehicle without four wheel discs? I wonder how they setup ABS/ESC wit it; I.e. drums more temperamental than discs?

Having said that our MN stops surprisingly well .. Even in the wet. Stops better than my old VY SV8 Commodore.

older tritons I believe had 4.6 in the petrol? but I'm not sure

A quick rule of thumb:

Old Gear Ratio × New Tire Size ÷ Old Tire Size = New Gear Ratio

So you have 3.91 gears, you have 30 inch tires right now (standard MN size) , and let's say you want to move up to 33 inch tires ...

3.97 x 33 / 30 = 4.30 , so 4.30 gears would be a good starting point when considering a re gear for the 33" tire size.

Tritonwreckers are working on a kit, having a hard time making it cost effective though was the last I heard.
you don't want to know what it cost me through all the hassles, even as a trial/ development

mine you all the costs were one off buys, to confirm fitment.

anyway I had a further play with the dual headlights
added a angle eye "halo ring"
these are very bright and look much better in the flesh than the iphone pic
I have now bought another set of the rings for the full set

going to have to do something with the halogen bubs though to match the rest of the LED's including the hella spots

someone did mention light whore....... :?

Get the Osram nightbreaker unlimiteds? They're ever so slightly more white/blue than the Philips xtremevision +130% that I've put in mine and some others. Also a little cheaper. Definitely not as 'yellow' as the Osram OEM that is in there now.

Loving the angel eye look though. I can see that being in my future somewhere if yours don't melt or something.

these are the "rings" I purchased, had a couple of people ask.
I went for these as I liked that the individual leds "blended together" and they do in practice, some of the other offering do not, you can make out the individual lights

I nearly bought 90mm, but measured up and checked, they quote outside diameter in these things and these 100mm lights have a inside diameter or the 90mm, fit neatly over the lip on the hella lights, a dab of silicon will hold them in place

off- barely see them/ notice them

just hope they don't mind the heat of the light, and are weather/ water proof

they are very protected from uv or stone/ bug damage

Buy autic 100/90 light globes halogen! They're absolutely the best on the market! I have tried it all Phillips everything! They're all terrible! I put these in and even when they're off the whole light casing glows a blue! Turn them on and they are the brightest white light! With a blue glow in the actual lamp casing! Can provide pictures! And more details if interested!

Always interested in what others have done
Anything in halogen would be awesome as legal (we'll sort of in those wattages)
Investigating led bulbs as an option rather than hid

They're these ones!
I had to go 100/90w, they go up to 130w but you need them in a relay! And have a warning saying they can melt the plastic lenses on your headlights! They look blue but shine a real ice white/blue on the road! Really really good! Highly recommend! Click to view larger picture
