srb's Club Cab build!

Thought it could be a good time to start a build thread... So meet BZI, out of the box it's a club cab chassis with the rear diff lock and ASTC, I have just clocked up 6000k's and have only minor mod's so far, first was the egr blank plate and provent filter then the stainless bash plates, centre console arm rest, got my new slide on camper a few weeks ago and my work tool box is finally finished... I use mine as a sparky vehicle during the week and then remove the tool box and put the slide on camper for weekend camping trips, so far it has worked great!

It's first day at home.

Only done one 4wd camping trip with the missus so far but loving it. :D Our first trip was to Newnes vie Blackfellows hand track and down Beecroft track that was when i realised the standard cheese cutters tyres were not up to the job, just lucky i had the new bash plates on.

This is ''Turtle'' our slide on camper the day we picked it up. It has full size double bed, kitchen, dual battery, 75ltr water tank and pump.

This was it's first 4wd camping trip. Completly stock apart from 3mm bash plates and egr blank.

Was great to get some mud on the fresh new paint.

The main reason I bought this 4wd is for a 1year trip around Aus in a year and half's time from now. :D Still have lot's of mod's to do but will have to wait a while for the bank account to recover. The wish list goes - Tyres, Ultimate suspension, auxiliary fuel tank, air compressor and tank, Chipit chip, uhf radio, double din GPS /stereo, rock sliders, snorkel, bull bar and winch ect.. Thanks to everyone on this great forum for all the inside info on Tritons, made my choice easy! Thanks people. ;)

Very 8-) concept you have there. How long is the change over time take :?:

I saw one very similar on the oct long w-end at Dark Corner, near Sofala.

Change over takes about one and half hours at the moment, the tool box takes the longest cause the leg mountings aren't finished, the camper is real easy and only take about 20min to drop it on and bolt it down. I will post some pic's of the change over process when i get it totally sorted. ;)

 Yeah sorry I've been real slack with my build thread. I might have to hire you Davbo to update it for me, with you being the project manager and all.

Been meaning to update this for about a year now. Where do I begin... Really should have kept on top of this

Well I edited some of the pics in the first post to help it flow...

So here I go... :geek: I think it was a set of bash plates from prestige and then a set of decent tyres on black steelies. I went some Cooper stmaxx AT's 265/75/16 at first but found it effected my gearing too much with the amount of weight I carry so I swapped them down to some 245/75/16 in BFG AT's and found it much better. I went the BFG's in the end because the tyre shop couldn't get me the Coopers in time for my trip to Frazer last christmas. Was good in the end because the BFG's out performed the coopers in every way. 8-)
Loved the look but just too boggy for the GLX gearing. More on that to come.

So with a trip to Frazer Island on the cards It was full steam ahead with a few more things like this 60ltr auxiliary fuel tank that I had picked up for only a fraction of the cost of a replacement longrange tank including a small electric lift pump to transfer fuel across when needed. I can only find one photo of it so I will have to take some more of it later but basically it just bolts up under the alloy tray close to the cab and has the filler neck mounted up high on the side of the tray. The lift pump is wired to a switch on the dash and the transfer pipe is plumbed into a tee piece into the main tanks breather. Works a treat. 8-)

Next was some roof racks to eventually handle the weight of a 2nd spare wheel and what ever else I could chuck on it.
Rhino HD track mount system was called upon but Rhino doesn't do it for the Club Cab. I could't find any thing else suitable so I ordered the one for the dual cab set up and just cut the track to size...They said it couldn't be done and that it wouldn't fit...Pfffft

Drilled some holes in the roof  vacuumed out the metal dust and dabbed the holes with cold gal. ;)

Filled holes with plenty of Sikaflex and used a mates air pop rivett gun to pull the track down super tight into the channel. Love the air pop gun, made life too easy. Click to view larger picture

So with a few good mod's done it was off to Frazer Island for our first time to test it all out and the first time we ever driven on sand.
We ended up doing over 700ks on the island in 12days and never had to re-fuel or stop for food water or beer. Once for water. Our favourite place was up past Nargarla rocks to sandy cape, just magic up there.

A few of pic's up at Frazer Island over christmas. CLICKY ON THESE.

Interesting getting past Nagarla rocks but fun also. :)

Wathumba Creek, nice spot but dont hang around at dusk the sand flies will eat you up! :o Click to view larger picture

Much much more to come over the next few days so stay tuned ;)

Ok next was the snorkel.. went for the TJM Airtech because I liked the look. Yes it was a real PITA to install.
Air saw makes it real easy cutting the gaurds. I was still very scared doing though.

Inner guard was part double thickness. There was a wiring harness that I had to move out the way to make this hole.

All done! :D All holes lined up so template was spot on. Was a very time consuming job but I had to have it done perfect. ;)

Loads more to come....

Davebo, BZI's not a she. Sure he was a bit confused when he first came out of the factory with soft suspension, sissy tyres and no body armour but now he feels like he should.

So did a few interior mod's to pass the time.

Kenwood 7'' screen DVD, I-pod with garmin navigation, Ultragauge and racetec boost and EGT gauges. 8-)
