ARB Deluxe Bullbar Driving Light Failure

Postby porter001 on Wed Nov 28, 2012 7:58 am

Hey guys, had a deluxe bullbar fitted 9 months ago. Have just noticed one of the driving lights ( fog lights ) have died. Called ARB and got the response of " we don't cover the lights under warranty," I would have thought that such a big company would be very quick to replace it, even if it is just the globe. Considering ARB has relieved me of 5K in the past year. Anyone else had any similar problems? This was at the ARB dealer at Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast

Cheers

No disrespect Porter, but if i replaced a bulb in your house 9 months ago and it blew, i don't think i would be expected to replace it under warranty?

If it is a dodgy connection then you may have a chance ;)

Although you seem to have spent a lot with them, I wouldn't expect a globe to be covered. It's a consumable unfortunately . If the wiring was broken however that should be covered

Yeah i do understand just seems like a bit of a slap in the face after forking out all the coin, considering it hasn't done much work ( turned them on twice i think).

Check the connections first, I have seen ARB use Scotch locks for wiring connections, Seen a lot of issues caused from this,

the quality of the lights used in the bar is suspect.
ARB went away from using IPF lights around 3 years ago and there is a lot of reports of failures since then.

not sure what you can do- hoping it is just the bulb- but if it is something else wrong- and I would be checking out the wiring because that can be done right, or hacked into the existing loom leading to problems.

Just an update guys, Sam from ARB head office has contacted me in regards to the fog lamp globe. He didn't have to but has agreed to send me a couple free of charge. I would personally like to thank him for getting in touch. Just shows there are some people out there with old fashion customer service. Also shows the power of online forums such as this one.

Cheers

Great work ARB and Sam...

How much for a set of foglights out of interest, I smashed one back in Jan and haven't been into ARB to ask...

Hi Kieran, RRP is $77 for a pair. Assuming the black plastic surround is still intact, the new fogs will come with the mounting hardware to attach them back into the bar.

Cheers, Sam.

Sam,
is it possible to retrofit IPF fogs to the bar?

What happens to those of us with IPF lights if they become damaged?

Hi 4wd26, yes we can still get IPF fogs in. Your local store would be able to give you pricing. Unfortunately I don't have that info at hand.

Cheers, Sam.

I have the old style deluxe bar so have to get IPF fog lights, I think from memory ipf lights were something like $300-$400. As the current Arb style ones don't fit the older bars, I fitted my old Mitsubishi fog lights in and they have been fantastic!!!!!

Yep I have ;)
I've blown an Arb globe and a couple of Mitsubishi globes.
I've spent a bit of money with both of them.
Also my house globes blow and I've spent even more money with the builder.
What's going on?
I think your very lucky to get some globes off Sam/Arb
I wouldn't have even waisted my time......it's luck of the draw as far as a consumable item goes.

I do understand the view that's its a cheap part, and to suck it up and buy a new one. But on the other hand spending over 2k on a bullbar that's meant to handle some abuse, I think we'll that's not really value for money. It is hit and miss a bit with these things and they definitely don't make em like they used to.

It's a light, they fail....

If you put a new globe in at home and it fails within the first year do you take it back and demand a replacement?

In all seriousness, to me, this seems like a pathetic ploy to have gotten out of buying a couple of new bulbs. Shaming the rep who gives his time here for nothing into giving them to you so you can save $20, not cool.

If it was all done privately, another story, but the way you have gone about this just makes you look bad, again IMO, as I'd have told you to get stuffed.

It's a consumable item. Lights were never made to take "abuse". Last I heard, glass is still fragile.

It's like jop said, if you bought a house with 10 year warranty, are you going to chase the builder down every time a bulb blows?

Why do you have the fog lights on anyway when 4wding??

Cant see the need in it, Turn your foglights off and next time you go into water they wont shatter,
Pretty simple really,
