triton mn glx rear step

Postby haz on Thu Jan 22, 2015 12:31 pm

hi was about too purchase a rear step/bumper off a glxr 2013 mn off gumtree to put on my glx mn my15. My glx has a factory towbar installed when purchased, and i have been told i cannot fit the step without having to buy a new towbar? any workaround to this, or am i stuck with what i got other than purchasing a new tow bar, would have loved to have put it on... thx for any help cheers haz.

The information you seek should be above.

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

It will, but if the towbar comes straight off a glxr with rear step then the tow bar will be significantly lower than the glx version.

Guess that comes down to personal taste - I wouldn't do it, purely because it creates a large gap between bottom of the tub and the towbar. And possibly more importantly, if you plan on going off road, that becomes the point that catches (grader blade).

If you don't plan going off road and can live with the gap - it's probably not stupid.

Cowboy Dave wrote:It is possible to fit a step with that towbar but to do so involves some cutting into the step - so a dealer won't do it but if you picked one up off a wrecker you might be game to have a go. It doesn't give you much protection from a rear impact though. Overseas I've seen plain chrome/stainless looking bars but I can't say I can recall seeing any here.

Thread revival, however is there any photos of this? I just want to put a tow point / hitch in but i want to keep the glxr rear step.

Cheers Dave, That's exactly what i was looking for. I have never had to tow anything nor will i probably ever have to but i would like a recovery point and that looks really clean!
