Tailgate liner

Postby Alf23 on Fri Jun 27, 2014 9:48 am

Does any know where to obtain just a tailgate liner. I realize they sell them with tub liners but I have just put in a set of drawers (no liner) but would like something to cover the tailgate.

you can buy it from the dealer, they are a separate part number, to get tub liner its 3 different part numbers
under rail tailgate line MZ314290S4
plus fitting kit MZ314290S1
over rail tail gate liner MZ314289S4

I had the above MMAL part fitted by the dealer. 2 hot days had it warp significantly and told not our problem by the dealer, its wear and tear. I tried heating it back up and pressing down, extra doublesided tape and other measures but the plastic is about 3mm thick and just lifted straight up.

Was annoying as the warp was big enough to stop one of the draws from sliding out, so I removed it and put down some Duplicolor Bed LIner from Supercheap, which cost less than $30. Seams to be a tough product and cheap enough, just dont spray on a cold day.

Maybe others havent had a problem with the MMAL liner and had horror stories with the spray on liner, but might be worth considering.

My previous 4wd I used a sheet of MDF and some marine carpet, also grafted in a few shallow storage cupboards within the gaps of the tailgate

I know a couple of guys have some rubber floor matting on theirs: http://www.clarkrubber.com.au/honeycomb ... 910mm.html

Not much good for sliding things over on the tailgate though :(

The tri-trailer I bought has a perspex sheet as a liner... might be a bit cheaper?

Just bought a genuine tailgate liner.Did'nt bother with the fitting kit.Could someone who has fitted one tell me if spacers are required between the tailgate and the liner where the longer bolts/screws go?
