Probably right there. I'm not that smart. :D

I believe when used in the correct context it is not really swearing,
reckon Kegsy could not have been more correct with the context on this one

At no stage did I feel guided more attacked for not taking someone's assumption on whether something was legal or not. I dont just do things to my car without thinking of the repercussions, I'm mechanically minded and understand the things that I will need to do to make everything firm and supported. My car will be getting engineered at the end of this year as I'm having some work done on the rear suspension that will require it. I also understand that this front chop has opened a can of worms, after the negative comments from me saying what regency told me I spoke to my engineer, he laughed and said its fine and just guided me around some things to be careful of. I think this campfire thing has stirred more things up than anything else so I do believe this needs to be addressed asap.

Also I don't think its the "" that are leaving I think its the people who are ambitious and like to modify their triton abit more than your average bloke, these are the people that might put 35's on their triton. But aslong as they have engineered it and changed diff fears etc what's the issue? Ive had conversations with these people and they have thought about everything to get it done not just bolt them on, they have done their research and got the right advice.

I think a lot of the people that have 'really' modified their tritons are still here... There are a LOT of vehicles in our members garages that have some tricky business in them.
Locked everything, ratio swaps, crawler gears, diff drops ;) The lists go on...

Most of them just go about their business without posting it as they are quite capable people with a lot of experience. 8-)

Generally the guy who comes on and starts asking about 35s on a triton is the guy who isn't going to do it. If you have to ask how to do it...

Do you mean home made bull bar or just home fitted readily available bull bar?

Once it is fitted how would anyone tell whether it was done at home or by arb?

Real easy. Neat and tidy =home fit . Rough. Mount holes elongated to make bar fit = ARB fitting.

I wasn't too sure where to stick this, but since we covered a few legalities and stuff in this thread, here's a reasonable summary of some of the more common no nos from unsealed 4x4 that just arrived in my inbox today: http://www.unsealed4x4.com.au/issue008/#45

I will try to get a call one way or another from Qld tomorrow and post it up

Edit:
http://www.unsealed4x4.com.au/issue008/#45

A few bits and pieces:
- Tyres with a 50mm increase in diameter are legal, track width increase of up to 25mm is legal too. - Applies to most of Australia (NCOP)
- Light bars: Fitting one across the middle is legal only in SA and Qld, everywhere else they must be in pairs. They cannot be fitted to the top of a bullbar if it obstructs vision, applies to all of Aus
- Bullbars: Can't have any sharp objects protruding forward of the bar. Empty fishing rod holders mainly, holders in use are mostly legal
- Weight: Payload is 650 KG maximum over the tare weight
- Leaf springs: A 2" lift that requires no further work or paperwork is fine. Leaf lift blocks are fine if they are steel or alloy and secured properly. Ajustable leaf shackles are not legal
- Coils: Coil/strut spacers are illegal in most states. Airbags in addition to coil springs are legal, but springs must have a higher rating than stock.
- Roof Rack: Can't extend 150mm past the side of the vehicle (dunno if thats the maximum width of the car or the roofline?). A total weight heavier than what the stated max is for the roof/rack is illegal

And recapping, 50mm or higher lifts need to be certified, and tyre diameters from 31 to 33".

What a load of shit :/

Some stupid laws but unfortunately its the game we play, my triton is going to be undertaking some heavy modifications at the end of this year but will also be engineered accordingly. My triton is built for purpose and unfortunately that makes it illegal lol and I'm sure I'm not the only one :). By this time next year the front bumper chop will be the least on the police mind when/if they pull me over but at least I will be engineered and compliant :D
