No drill Flush mount Tonneau's

Postby jonb1760 on Mon May 11, 2015 2:36 pm

I was chasing a no drill, flush mount Tonneau cover, simmilar to the ones on the new rangers. They are held down by a six point screw down anchor point. I like these ones because they are locked while the back gate is closed and locked. I know , soft cover and only protecting against the honest thieves and all.
I spoke to someone at Ute Covers or similar company and was told they don't make them for a GLX-R with the roll bars. seems strange that they do make them for a ford ute with roll bars though.

has anyone seen this type before. I think the brand is an EGR.

Yep great idea. I searched everywhere as well with no luck. A hard top is your best bet if security is a must.

Do they make one if you take off the roll bars ?
Get a bog dog for the back for security...... Or as above hard lid but they do take away a bit of space at the lid is deep.
Life is what happens while you are busy making plans........

As far as I'm aware they do make them for the triton without roll bars. I wouldn't have thought it would be that hard to adapt. Hard lid is not really an option as I carry bikes and dogs and stuff. A mate just bought a Ranger with one and it seems a much better option than the genuine flush mount tonneau.

I just bought one , recieved it today! They have them discounted at the moment ( 33% off ) $251 , cant go wrong with that! The only thing missing is the internal lock system which i guess i can do without ( at a saving of $130 compared to TTC )

Has anyone fabricated up their own locking device/Anti Theft device for Soft covers
Id be interested to see any pics you have !

Does this require drilling of the inside of the tub?

I have a flush mount on the new MQ and it looks like a fair bit of hardware goes on the inside of the tub, looks to be aluminium angle riveted to the inside edges with the plastic channel on the top of it, the only bits that are stuck on are in the corners of the tailgate and the end of the tub

Gday again Guys,

This is what i hate about these Flat Covers.... You just cant roll them up and fold them under the back window in the tub

No good if you want to carry bikes ( have to remove) or Move large items ( have to remove ) , at least with the Bungi style , you can simply roll up and fold out the way , whilst still keeping the front attached...

No big deal removing them, sure, not if you dont mind squeezing it between the roll bar and the rear window because of the front "Lock in" system...

Guess im gonna just sell mine now...

Hey DCDAD

How does the "lock in" thing work for these? I cant get my head around how you would lock a tonneau cover.

the only way i can describe it , is the headboard end has a reversed cam lock style lock in !
i believe the actual "Lock type" have 2 sewn in "O'Rings" that you simply put a padlock on

Does yours by chance have a split in the plastic bar on the rear ? to allow it to fold over!

No need for a split. Alrighties. I went to get some pics

Step 1. Undo the flush mounts Click to view larger picture

Step 2. Bottom right to top leftClick to view larger picture

Step 3. Bottom left to top right.Click to view larger picture

Top end stays attached the whole time

No problems at all!
Couldn't sleep, so figured I'd get some stuff done

Saves selling it and looking for other solutions if you don't need to.

I want to remove the flushmount system on mine so I can have a canopy installed. Any suggestions on the easy way to remove the rails etc Mits factory installed with rivets.

Good luck with that, mine was an absolute mongrel to get off not so much the tonnue the rivets they used on mine didn't pop correctly an the pins where still in them,so cant be drilled out I took it back and complained and they had to lever the rivets out damaging the tub lip, aswell as all the rust starting to form in the rivet holes they said they would have to send it to a panel beater to get fixed, anyway that's why I went for the Alloy tray they gave me a VERY good discount

If the rivets havent pulled properly you can sometimes hit the center with a punch to knock it back through then drill the rivet out.
