Bumper Grill Clips

I took my lower bumper grill off my MN too put some mesh on it for an offroad trip to protect the intercooler, now I cant get the clips on the top side of the grill to clip back in even without the mesh on it.

Can anyone help with tips on how to get these to stay in as it drives me nuts knowing its not right? And just to clarify none of the clips or grill appear to be broken in anyway.
