Attachment of sliders to chassis

Postby Greedy on Mon Feb 01, 2010 10:58 am

What is the preferred way of attaching sliders to the chassis rails? From what I can tell most that have been fitted from this site are mounting plates that bolt around the chassis rail. On the weekend, I had a squizz at a hilux who had them mounted on brackets which were welded to the chassis. It looked very solid 8-) . I'm going to have to get them as since the lift and tyres, I'm back to wanting to drive like a P plater  over the rough stuff and finding the steps are copping a beating.
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal labotomy!

It ain't pretty being easy!!

I've got my brackets made and they are a U that slides up around the chassisand then a bolt goes through the top to hold them in place.

I think it is even illegal without engineers certificate as there are so many points on the chassis that cannot be welded

Mine same as ag9111.

Wouldn't weld the chassis.

Just make sure there is good clearance between the top of the slider and your sill when fitted...mines just hitting going over bumps and I shudder to see what the bottom of the sill looks like.....will fix it soon

I have the same as Ag9111 and Homer, a Bracket bent to a U with a high tensile bolt through the top with a nylon bolt. But i also welded trianglar pieces of steel from the bracket to the edge of the rail for added strength. So far no movement......
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left.
