Abercrombie rd seen my all time record on sat night - 3 Roos in 20m = 1 bent and busted number plate and driving lights bent back, quick Joey check push the lights back down on my way.

Turn into Vulcan state forest heading across to shooters hill - Thump 1 x hair (admitadely it was the front bash plate). Motoring along about 80kph up ahead in the lights i think is that 2 wombats started to brake the they stopped and turned "PIGS" brake was eased throttle applied and thump. A boar and a sow were on the deck about 60kg-70kg each.

Zero damage to the triton -

This statement for me doesn't apply. I have an Alloy bar on my Triton (don't know what type it is 100%, pretty sure it was built by sunny coast towbars or something similar to that). Anyways it was on there when I bought my Triton so I can't really comment on the Bullbar itself restricting airflow... but I guess it would to some degree. The thing I actually noticed a raise in temperature in was when I added a set of Lightforce 240's to my bullbar. The middle hoop of the bar is fairly small (and if it wasn't for the fact that I was getting the 240's insanely cheap I would have went for a smaller light with HID). But after putting these lights on I noticed a rise on the temp needle of about half to 3/4 of a needle width (only when traveling above 90kph, as the lights must cause an etty behind them and restrict air entry to the grill, well this is what I'm guessing). My needle now sits about a needle and a half above half temp. This probably isn't a significant or dangerous temperature increase (well I'm hoping), but it does sit in the back of my mind most of the time I'm doing highway driving. Below is a picture so you can see what I mean about the middle hoop only just fitting the lights in.

I am toying with the idea of modifying my bullbar at the moment (the best part is that it isn't a popular type bar so if you haven't seen it before it's been chopped you won't notice that it isn't standard (well I'm hoping I can do this). The below picture show how restricted the front end of my Ute is and the parts that are kinda poorly shaded black will be GONE. The circles are either going to be mini spots/fogs or directional cold air intakes, I'm undecided yet. So hopefully all of this work will drop the temps when traveling fast just to give me piece of mind.

I'm also looking at the two spots either side of the number plate as another place to allow more airflow... So to me airflow restriction is a small problem, but so far hasn't caused any noticeable issues.

I have an ML GLX with ARB Commercial bar & winch from Avenger.

After fitting I did not notice any significant rise in temp (sits at around 80deg c on scangauge).

Fuel economy has reduced from new, however I have also gone from 6" steels to 7" alloys (more rubber on ground = more resistance).

The biggest problem was the std suspension could not handle the weight. I have since installed Pedders H/D coils & struts.

I looked at TJM & Ironman bars prior to purchase at last years 4x4 show & preferred the ARB build quality. Also got a pretty good deal by ordering at the show. (if you are considering accessories & can wait a while, order at the show & save).

Overall I'm very happy with the bar & recon my tri looks pretty good with it.

I have no link to them, They appear very strong.
I think the 5 post alloy bar weighs 50 KG.

B&S style doesn't suit the triton IMO, best left to Holden and ford utes.

Would absolutely mash poor skip :o

They remind me of a safari vehicle in Africa or pushing Buffalo around in the top end.

Damn they're ugly. :o

Why was I reminded of Kingswood utes, stickers and antennas (lots of antennas) when I saw those pics? The memories of Bundy and tarts coming back to me is good though.

Seriously ugly devices... 4WD Actions recent test proved them to be highly effective at protecting the car though.

I wonder how they comply with the newer 'pedestrian friendly' design laws?

Dislikes- stick out further from the vehicle- In fact just enough to nudge a nice BMW in the front carpark.

That was the wife this morning- maybe the insurance can repaint the bar.

Likes no problem to the ARB bar that a lick of paint wont fix.

ARB Bar colour coded to the same as the ML flares.

Airflow hasn't been a problem for me- but I did choose smaller driving lights.

Will be interesting in the engine temps come Dec- planning a 15,000km trip towing the van from Brisbane to Perth - going accross central NSW (Darling River Run and Mungo NP)

$1310.73 for the bar.
$270.91 for fitment.

*EDIT* + GST

Thats what I paid for mine, plus a bit more for colour coding. That price was on 05/07/2010.

4x4 show at Melbourne showgrounds 3rd-5th Sept.

edit http://www.4x4show.com.au/melbourne/index.shtml

I ordered my bar there last year & good price (from memory about the cost of fitting off) :D

The only drawback was a delay in supply by about 5 weeks. :(

Still the wait was worth the saving

Should be worth the drive

Yeah thats for an MN deluxe winch bar, no optional fog lights.

I can't see it being too much different price wise for the ML, if any. Should give you a fair idea anyway. Price was from ARB themselves.

4x4 show at Melbourne showgrounds 3rd-5th Sept.

I was wondering when the next camping show was.

I can hold off until then. Hopefully get some discounts on some gear.
Bull bar, alloy canopy rack, may be suspension. ( I hope Ultimate will be there)
