I agree with Naff.

The Sprint Booster was a great product and ahead of the competition. It was the original throttle controller and worked very well. Unfortunately we had to stop supplying them due to issues with supply and warranties.

Recently we have sourced a few of the wind boosters through 4WDsupplies and are very impressed. China has made them better and cheaper with more functions. Still early days, but we are looking at stocking them for Sydney based members.

Newbie question alert!

My triton sucks when starting off with a load behind(either a 1800kg van or 1500kg boat). It takes ages for the turbo to kick in but when it does she goes beaut. Would this wind throttle help? Currently riding/slipping clutch until rig starts moving then giving it a boot full. Worried how long clutch will last!

To an extent, yeah. But what you want is the 2wd low range mod ;)

Hmm, I never really thought of that mod in that way. If you take off in 2wd low range can you change up to a higher gear on the move?

I can't think of any reason not..... As long as its in 2wd and NOT 4x4, there shouldn't be any repercussions. I haven't done it though, because I am yet to figure out the wiring of such.

I wouldn't recommend changing any transfer case from low range to high range on the fly!...........it doesn't end pretty. The gear sets spin at very different speeds, not very good for longevity of gear teeth!!!!

If you tow a lot maybe a custom tuned ECU would help.

It's a matter of taste I guess. I saw one recently where the owner had sort of recessed it into a dash panel so you just saw the digital readout and it looked alright. I have the old sprint booster and on that one you can set it and then unplug the controller if you want to. Once you find your preferred spot you don't tend to need access to it any more.

I looked at the plug one earlier and it was about $30 dearer than the wind booster?

The other thing is that the plugngo is a bit of an unknown at this point. Ultimate had some issues with quality control with the manufacturers on the sprint booster - I had 2 die on me but given their usual top shelf service ultimate copped it on the chin and replaced them each time with new ones. From what I hear the wind boosters have been pretty reliable. Time will tell on the other one and someone will have to be the guinea pig I guess. If you do go that way be sure and report back as to how good it is and so on.

I cant fault the Windbooster from 4WD Supplies.
Probably one of the best mods to controll turbo lag and take-off.
I just mounted mine on the back of the fuse panel lid. I dont really see the need for it to be exposed as im not adjusting it that often.

If anyone is thinking of getting the Sprint Booster DON'T buy from the Ebay seller NO-LIMIT TUNING. Paid for the item but never received it. Tried to contact them but they never respond. Delivery date was right on the forty five day period so not able to lodge a dispute through Ebay or PayPal. So now have to see how I go with the bank or guess I'mm out of pocket $300.

I'd be reporting that to eBay/paypal anyway. They may still help but also might stop it happening to others in future.

I tried to report it to Paypal and Ebay. But due to the retailer having the delivery date right on the 45 day period Ebay or Paypal wouldn't do anything about it. I had to lodge a fraud complaint through my bank to try and reclaim the money.
