Factory shocks

Postby Wamitsu on Mon May 12, 2014 9:26 pm

Hi all
I have bought some King springs (40mm lift) for my Challenger and didn't have the cash for new shocks just yet and was wondering if anyone had fitted raised springs with the factory shocks. Do the factory shocks handle the lift? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

If it's a two inch lift the factory shocks will be fine.

do yourself a favour and piss the factory shocks off while their out anyways.... they will be rooted soon anyway.

not to mention the atrocious ride quality they offer, the valving is horrible.

The standard shocks "could" be to short at full droop... something you will have to find out ...I guess..

How much improvement would be gained in ride quality by just replacing the shocks and leaving the factory coil and springs?

Better to ask the manufacturers.
I tried aftermarket shocks with stock coils and springs and found it handled horribly. The shocks appeared to be matched for the springs/coils they were made to be used with (ie same brand) to suit the spring rate.

Ome shocks & springs are just cheap shit...honestly only good for 30k if that ...before the shocks are flogged out and the springs are sagged and rears are inverted....
Doing a combination upgrade is just a waist of time....and money.
But that's just my opinion...I read up on suspension here long ago I found out about a
Company in Sydney that does a reasonably priced custom lift kit and saved my penny's and installed the kit I have not looked back...they are not called the ultimate suspension for nothing...
