Picked up Paddy yesterday from Lander Mitsubishi in Blacktown

It is an PB Challenger LS 5spd Auto (with flappy paddles) 2.5TD. It has lotsa normal car option like AC, cruise and bluetooth but the most important thing is the rear locker!

It was the dealer principals car so is a mid 2013 build but not registered till October - it has 15 600klms on it and I only paid $31 777 for it and we have 4yrs and 115 000klms of warranty left. I thought that was a pretty good deal becasue for the same money I could get an ex-mines spec 2010 Pradoo with 125 000klms on it with no warranty. It is the youngest car I have ever owned with the least klms on it - the warranty makes me happy.

As part of the deal I got a towbar, floor mats, headlight and bonnet protectors, front weather shields and a full tank of diesel.

Here are some pics

Obviusly there is a list of mods to be done. I have spent a pretty penny buying the things below

Ebay
25" LED lightbar and some mounts for the bullbar for it
Red Arc brake controller

ARB
Safari Snorkel

Ironman
2" lift with 41mm Foam Cell shocks and struts- not sure to go hard or medium springs yet
Deluxe Commercial Bullbar
Underbody Bash plates
12000ln monster winch with dyneema rope
TREDs x4
Some recovery gear to go with the winch
270amp Dual Bettery System

Future mods or stuff to buy
Dual bettery tray - I was going to run the 2nd battery in the car but have decided to go under the bonnet
Window tint
HID spots
Roof Rack (my mate has a flat one for sale)
UHF and antenna
Maybe some sliders/steps but they are bloody dear

I'm hoping that most of the stuff I have already bought gets put on next weekend..............should be fun.

I have already done one mod. Looking under the front wheelarches I saw some exposed metal

I didn't think that was a good idea, so out with the Spetone underbody rust protection coating and gave a it a hit.

These are great cars in my opinion. I have a 2010 LS with 33's. Goes anywhere and the rear diff lock makes it that much better too. I want some toughened side steps/sliders, rear wheel carrier, long range fuel tank and maybe a front bar for it. The 70L stock tank doesn't get you very far these days. Front bar I'm keen on is the one from Rhino 4x4, bit different but I've found I don't like how far all the ARB and TJM bars stick out on the Challengers, it takes away from it's pretty decent approach angle, each to their own. Anyways, Enjoy the car!

I started to paint the underside of Paddy, still have about half of the chassis and major suspension components to go. I need to buy a few more cans though. Then I think I might also paint the bottom of the bodyshell as well

Picked up my dual battery tray today. And last night the bullbar mounts and Brake Controller arrived from Ebay - I'm hoping the lightbar arrives tomorrow. I should be able to pick up the Ironman gear on Friday in the AM.

If I'm lucky on the way home from work tomorrow I will pick up my 2nd battery.

On Friday we were supposed to pick up all the fun gear to go onto Paddy. It was a weird day. Mine started at the RMS putting Karena's plates on. THen home to pick up Chris and then into town to buy stuff. We were virtually insulted by the battery man. For lunch we then paid too much for a pie and then we were told by Ironman that some of my stuff wasn't in - those things being the bullbar, winch and bash plates.

We were told by them that the bash plates and winch may come on the afternoon truck and they would call us to let us know. They rang us half way through dismantling the front end, but only the winch had arrived. We had to go back into Newcastle to pick up the winch.

Hoping the bash plates arrive this week and the bullbar may be more than 3 weeks away....................

Anyhoo onto the some pics......... mostly in order

After returning from trip #2 to Ironman we went to Justins place and used his press to take apart the olds struts and assemble the new ironman ones with the old strut tops. The 1st one took about 40mins to do but the second one was much much quicker

On Saturday Laith arrived and we put the front struts back in and kicked off the rear suspension

This is what it looks like with the 2" lift

It will obviousluy sit differently once the bar and winch goes on. But the ride now is pretty good.

Next job was very important. Chris's mate Mick had arrived and chipped in as well. And that was running power to the rear of the car for the andersen plug and a CIG socket or two for the fridge in the cargo area

And here is the dual battery controls - rocker switch to join and detach the 2 batteries and the volt meters which were tested and taken as pretty accurate according to a Fluke multimeter

None of the would've been possible without the help of my mates Paul, Justin, Mick, Laith and importantly Chris who led the build.

I owe you all bigtime and Karena and I appreciate the help that you gave me.....Thanks a million!! Even with the pink bar Paddy looks pretty awesome!

Chris said earlier today that he was glad that the bar and bash plates didn't turn up because we realy wouldn't have had time to do it all - I agree 100%, I am totally knackered.

Hoping in a month or so to add the bar, bash plates and the snorkel

And on an important note. I put Paddy through his paces on the tracks around a mates farm and I am pretty impressed with what it did on it's road tyres.

There was one little creek crossing that I put him into that I didn't think he would get out of under his own steam. A mates 78 series (with rear locker) needed 4-5 bites at it, basically cos it was so long. Then a Disco 3 needed two bites at it but ended up cruising out.

Blo and behold Paddy walked out ist time much to the surpsie of me, and the other guys. No pics of it happening that I am aware of. I can't wait to see what it does on proper 4WD tyres!!
