Not happy Jan.

So we are out for lunch this morning with friends , open road heavy rain and the truck just dies,no noise ,no bang nothing.
Roadside assist arrives and diagnoses timing belt gone, cam not moving when engine cranks viewed through oil filler.
It's a 2013 PB still under warranty so that's a plus but am a little pissed off considering all the recalls and a new diff some time back.

It will be an interesting call tithe service manager in the morning.

How many kilometres?

Have services been done as per the book?

You say that it's still under warranty so if servicing has been done then it should be covered under warranty. If so, then it's just a case of bad luck, but, if a timing belt change wasn't done when scheduled then you're likely to be on your own. That's a bummer but a lesson in itself.

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

Idler pulley bolt sheared,(its 10mm HT steel)?????
As the motor is non interference ,when new parts are fitted IF there is no further damage I'm good to go.
Must admit I'm still concerned but have no option at this stage.

How often should we be getting the timing belt done if they are failing inside warranty at low km's I feel like this should be a every three year thing

Not as simple as we hoped, new belts & pulley. Car will run very rough, valves suspected.
Head come off tomorrow.

Looks like 2 exhaust valves & 5 rockers, so much for a non interference motor.

So what is the actual change interval? Some dealers state 90,000 and some say 100,000 :?

My dealer said 90000. As tappets are a km thing rather than oils which can break down over time.

Mine is due soon on my mn.. $1500 for all oils an filters and tappets adjustment.

Its now 90,000km, on my 2013 anyway, as per the book.
They dropped the interval due to premature failures, or so I was told.
