Oil for MQ diffs

Postby ls2cruiser on Thu Jan 20, 2022 5:49 pm

I have been to Mitsubishi asking for 4 litres of their special diff oil and they say they have only 20 litres and a price of $400. Would a member in north Brisbane have a spare 4 litres that they wish to sell. I am at Scarborough , Redcliffe. My phone number is 0428599719 thanks Russell

The Oil you use MUST be a SAE80 GL5 Hypoid type oil.

Thank you for your replies. Tritony, how long have you been using the Penrite LS90? Is it a synthetic oil? I am also wondering if the original OEM oil is a sythetic type or mineral? Going by the price the OEM oil might be a mineral oil. I cant find Penrite LS 90 GL-5 oil on line. Is it another brand?

I used this: https://www.repco.com.au/en/oils-fluids ... IQEALw_wcB

It is Penrite Pro-Gear 75w-90. I have had no issues running it, however Dibby is a Mitsubishi tech and I would take his word over mine. I just couldn't find the 100% right oil at any of my local auto parts store to meet the spec and Mitsubishi only sell it in 20L I found.

Bursons do a compatible oil, cant think of the brand but ill try to look it up.

Although MMAL now use total oils and they do a 1l (AU901607) and that is a 80w-90 GL5, but supply chain issues are abundant with this new supplier and it might not even be here yet

Hi Dibby
Can I use TITAN SUPERGEAR LS SAE 80W-90 on both front and rear diff? It is for 2017 Exceed model. My local dealer is fully booked and can't get me in till the end of May. They wouldn't even quote me a price for it.
