Bluetooth in MQ GLS

Postby Logzy on Mon Aug 31, 2015 3:58 pm

G'Day all,
Anyone else have a problem with their bluetooth phone connection whereby the system does not show the contact name on an incoming call.
It shows the phone number but not the contacts name even though i have imported the phones phonebook.

Also annoying that the speaker used for calls is only the left front.

Is that the " mitsi link system " with only 1 power/ volume knob ? Mine has phone thru both front speakers . And has provision for vehicle phone book as well as importing book for diff phones that are paired

Have you checked your settings ? I thought you could choose which speaker it comes out of,But only one at a time from what I remember. Not sure about the phonebook, my bluetooth is not that flash :(

I recall the speaker settings are in the radio setup where you can balance all speakers Front/Rear and equal each side front

Settings are greyed out. When i looked in the manual it states that the settings are only available with an additional bluetooth handsfree module..?Go figure!!
When it goes in for its 1500k service ill ask the dealer/service tech about it.

Picked mine up today, sound only coming from left front during a call too. Also I can't connect my phone (galaxy s5). Other phone work but when I tap on 'hands free system' in the list of devices on my phone it just says pairing failed. Anyone else come across this?

Won't even let me get to that point. As soon as I tap on the device it just says unable to connect. Called the help line and the woman just said well if other phones work it must be just your phone, can't help any more than that. Pretty handy...

Settings, app manager, Bluetooth, force stop, wipe cache and data seems to fix it. Or reboot phone into recovery - power volume down and home- and wipe cache.
It's a Samsung issue. Had it on my s3, s5 and now my note 5

Have tried both of those, no success an S2 and an old iPad worked fine. Dealer couldn't get it to work either. I get in and out of about 6-7 different vehicles at work each work and have never once had an issue...

Also, does the gls have an aux input? It's available to select in the menu but can't find a jack anywhere.

Unless it's well hidden the auxiliary is the usb. That's why you can turn it off in settings

Ah ok that makes sense. Also an update on the Bluetooth: I have now tried three Samsung Galaxy S5's and two S5 minis and none of them work. Spoke to the Mitsubishi Link System support number again and they said go to the dealer. Who couldn't get it to work in the first place.. What to do..

I have S4, took a couple tries and turned bluetooth on and off before it would accept the "0000" code and now it works fine.

Got it working! Here's what I did...

My head unit came with a default pass code of 1212 if you use the menu options to pair. If you use the voice commands it generates a new random code each time. Neither of these worked with my Galaxy S5 but did with other phones. To get another Samsung to work I changed the code to 1234 and it worked straight away. Deleting the pairing and doing it again wouldn't work though. Changed the code to 0000 and my phone worked straight away too. I think the key is to change the code in the Mitsubishi Link System menu right before pairing. Worked for me anyway so maybe worth a shot.

Anybody fix the left speaker only issue? Does resetting the BT connection fix it?

The speaker thing sounds like a settings issue - like the unit thinks the car is left hand drive

I disconnected and reconnected the BT/mobile. Still same issue. I Vhecked sound control settings too. I Reset to factory. Switched it to right, still remains on the left. Strange.

Left front audio would be default as its the clearest source for the driver. Many satnavs/indicators use this speaker as well.

I was thinking the same, but the manual has me confused.
Maybe dealers are setting it to the left speaker?

I've been bashing my head against a wall trying to get my work-provided S5 to connect since I got the vehicle in February! Set the passkey in the head unit to 0000 and it worked straight away! Thanks for that.

Could not even get the Triton Exceed MMCS to recognise my Samsung S4 (or the other way round),so tried the manual passkey (definitely not passcode!). It connected straight away without me having to key anything at all - hands free phone worked (left speaker) and audio no problem.
Many thanks for this fix - has saved me unending frustration and possibly even having to buy an aftermarket replacement.
Cheers, Jak

Hi all,
I have a 2018 MQ GLX+. I had issues with the phone only coming out of left speaker for both Bluetooth and Android Auto. I have found a link to a YouTube video that gets you to a secret radio menu. You need to switch the radio to LHD. Apparently it is a safety issue that it only finds out of the passengers side?????
Anyway, I've changed mine following the link below. I help it helps.
