Bloody hell, not good to hear.. would you recommend anyone with the problem raising the issue with mitsubishi now or waiting for a recall or more info before anyone else goes further? cheers

Good for finding the issue

Omg the issue, depending on where I could also see potential for water and dust to enter the cabin
And it's only going to get worse the harder you use the ute

Sucks to be you, glad I bought a 3.2 :o

Cheers for the update Dunga,
Bugger hey, begs the question, what is happening with the QC at the manufacturing plants? I would have thought the engine machining issue would have been a big wake-up call for Mitsi, that alone would have cost them big $$$$$.
Better to be silent and thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt.[

Any more news on this ? Do you have any pictures or the manufacturing defect that is causing this ? Where do I go looking on mine ? The more I drive this vehicle the more noises start coming out of it.

The latest is when I have the right indicator on and I turn the wheel right it sounds like the indicator relay (not that they have them any more, I think its just a piezo that makes an indicator noise) makes an arcing noise.

Glad this thing has a 5 year warranty - I have a feeling we are going to be spending some time at the dealership

I hope not, but the longer warranty was one of the big draw cards for me. Every twincab I looked at had their own issues - just hope you don't get a dud in the first place!

I've only got 3000km on the clock on mine, but I haven't noticed any knocking/rattling other than when I forget to plug the passenger seat belt in and the baby seat! The ride *is* feeling a bit rougher though. Not sure why that is. Might be just that I'm past the "newness" of it.

Anyone have any updates on this? An extra info, pics, fixes? My MQ has this knock/creaking noise from the passenger side rear. initially thought it was the seat belts or the seat etc. Definitely isn't either of those.

It would make sense for it to be what you've described. I hear it over bumps, but i also hear it when turning corners over smooth tarmac, when the chassis/cabin flexs, making me think it was either something to do with the mounting of the cabin, or the cabin itself flexing

They managed to fix it,there not really letting on how but I'm shure it involved a hammer :( I have had it back for 2 days and there is just a slight knock every now and then, they are happy to keep investigating if it becomes an annoyance again

The noise comes from a body skin clearance issue not a spot weld.

Pop your back seat forward and remove the lower c piller trim, you will need to remove the trim that runs under the rear window to do this first.

At floor lever there is a access gap in the c piller. The noise comes from in here.

If you look in the access gap you will see the vertical metal panel runs very close to the horizontal panel. This gap needs to be made bigger. Not much only a couple of mm. Easiest way is just bend it slightly with a pry bar. This doesn't effect the strength of the panel and any scratches will need to be touched up with some rust proofing to stop later rusting.

Noise gone!

Suggests a bit of flexing in this area then?

This flexing must ultimately occur around a fixed point - so what is the likely occurrence of panel fractures in the future
When doing high kms on corrugated roads?

The noise comes from in the hole below that white connector

Yeah, found the area in question after [censored] around for a while anf got it fixed today. no more noise, wowww it's like driving a new car now

I couldn't work out where it was based off your description... until i removed sound deadening cover and foam(see pics) i then uses a large prybar and a hammer to spread the area open a little bit(see final pic). Easy done!
