From what I hear the plug and play electronic solution may not be too far away.
The Hitchhiker's guide to the the Triton universe and NTN.

A how to on finding your own way - search me.

I've been searching but still a bit lost, is it best to fit a blanking plate to the MQ AND do I need to remove it prior to a service?

Doing short school runs and round town most days and a longer drive to blow the cob webs away at the weekend.

Done 7,500Km's so far

I've read this post over and over but still lost

You can get a blanking plate on ebay for around $10... jas about a 6 or 8 mm hole to allow a sensor reading but cut 90+ % pf the crap....
Easy to install and remove prior to service... but would most likely go un noticed. Have run mine since 1500km service... now got 8k on the clock
ONLY SUCKERS PAY THE STICKER PRICE...............

My mate reckons to only do it via tricking the temp sensor as the egr will then still work as needed when the dpf burns occur

Don't be misled, Grost01, the system on the MQ is not the same as on the ML/MN.

As Cowboy Dave suggests a few posts back, best to wait for a properly designed and tested solution.

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

Anyone experienced the claims made in just about every blanking plate listings on fleabay?

Quote;
When blocking the EGR port you are redirecting 100% of the exhaust gases back out the exhaust via the turbo. The turbo now has total exhaust pressure turning the blades which means the turbo will spool up quicker. End quote

Most are under $10 to buy. I've read up on other threads about how they assist with soot ect. I'm just wondering if anyone has noticed a quicker spooling turbo....? (dont like my chances)

I suspect you won't like the answer on here.

Jump on Facebook. Blank plates, more power, less lag, faster turbo spooling, better fuel economy, more power and 0 associated issues. All tested by the seat of the pants dyno too.

Quicker spool is obtained by dealing with the throttle body closing under EGR command (this is possible with MQ but can have an undesirable side effect depending on how its done). Blanking the EGR off (especially with a holed plate) alone makes little gain here.

The EGR system works a little differently on the 4N15 compared to the 4D56 and 4M41. Main one being the addition of an EGR cooler bypass solenoid and its tendency to dump raw soot (EGR opens much as 80%) at idle, warm up and in cooler climates.

Thanks for the reply Tony, I'm still trying to get my head around the whole topic.

Does anyone have any ideas as to when that electronic plug and play solution may be available for the MQ?

Tony is your man for that. He's been experimenting, but as his comment above probably shows, it's complicated on the MQ.

Having had the manifold in the challenger replaced twice (under warranty) before I fitted an EGR blank, my MQ will be getting one from day dot. I literally ordered the car and 10mins later jumped on eBay and bought the EGR plate.

Does anyone have any photos of the correct place to install the EGR blanking plate on the MQ? Electronic plug and play solution from chip tuning still "a couple of months away" 01/05/2016.

The one I bought from eBay came with instructions and installation pics. It goes between the egr cooler and the pipe that connects to the intake manifold..

Hey guys just wondering if you have had any engine fault codes being generated with the plate? And you used the plate with the hole?
