MQ with hard tonneau dust sealed??

Postby Sandstorm76 on Sun Mar 27, 2016 2:37 pm

Should the hard lid fitted to the rear tub of the MQ be dust sealed? On a recent camping trip I was amazed at the amount of red dirt in the back of the tub. I thought it would seal adequately.

I have a hard lid on my work Navara. Same. Dust comes in from the tailgate. Big gaps!
Needs foam to fill them in.

Yeah. It's come in from the tail gate. What do people do who have a canopy with drawers and fridge etc..? That would do my head in cleaning up the crap after every trip off road.

They have a vent that pressurises the canopy, no reason you couldn't put a vent in the hard lid.
Some extra rubber auto seals may also give a bit better seal.

I found the same issue on mine. I went over the entire tonneau cover and tailgate with new foam strip that I bought from Clark Rubber. In the end probably went over and above what was normally done and since then I haven't had an issue.

I also think that my tray may have previously had a canopy on it at some stage and it has the tailgate/tray seal kit in it.

Anybody want to buy a nearly new hard tonneau lid in earth green and sports bars. I'm going to go the canopy option.
