VGT Turbo swap to Waistegated 4d56

Postby MQL200 on Sun Jul 11, 2021 9:06 pm

Hello,
Im considering this swap and need your wisdom here:

Two 2016 L200s, both 4x4, both 4d56 one is single cab with hp motor, the other is double cab with regular waistegated turbo.
I want to swap turbos in order to have the turbo with the variable vane in the double cab. Can I only swap turbos and turbo related components or are there other components in the engine internals that differ? I dont want to go through the trouble of having to swap the entire engines, if at all possible.

Please help me here with your wisdom. I want the extra power on the double cab and not on the single cab truck.

Thanks a lot. Any input is really appreciated!

There are differences in the internals between the 2 motors, And in the electronics and wiring that control the VGT in the HP version as the HP doesnt have a wastegate, instead the ECU controls the EGR for boost control.

So you would need to swap engines, Harnesses, ECU and possibly the immobiliser ECU as it is coded to the engine.
