Fumoto oil drain valve

That's what the nipple looks like. I'd be wary if I was running the stock bash plates but I don't think the TJM plates would break it.

Hi guys

I haven't seen the underside of me Triton yet as it's not delivered (!), but just wondering if I decide to keep the factory bash plates for a while, would I be better getting the Fumoto valve which has no nipple for the hose ? I guess that means I'll need to remove the bash plate each oil change but I'm guessing that's only 4 bolts or something ?

Cheers
Carl

You'll want the bash plates so get themoff TJM and install them while you're down there, mate.

Hmm, the work involved might include having to convince the missus about further expense, so "while you're down there" indeed ! ;-) Thanks mate .... So if I do get bash plates the one with the hose nipple is the go ?

Tell her that the guards are there to protect and show her the pics in the article forum where the stock ones are bending like coke cans

Just thought I would bump this to the top for those who are new and havn't seen this post yet.

Now- for those who have gone this route have there been any problems?
Still working like a charm.

Starting to think about the bash plate and getting one of these valves, especially with reports of the threads of the bolts going.

Fit guard and valve and forget..... well that's the plan

no worries with the 2 I have fitted (one on the Triton and one on a Delica). Went the short one on the Triton ... meaning you need to remove the factory 'bash plate' (cake tin) to drain it (I haven't yet replaced the bash plates 'cos we haven't really been off road), ... looking at it I reckon it could fit the "N" version (with the nipple, for the drain hose to be fitted onto) even with the factory bash plate, but it might be a squeeze ... either way each of the drain plugs holding up well. The main bonus for me is no more undoing the drain plug and having it drop into the waste oil bucket and get covered in hot oil at the same time ... worth the $50 for that alone :)

Cheers :)

Have to remove the bash plate anyway to get the oil filter on the petrol.....unless Buzzy puts a nice big hole there in the new ones ;)

I didn't know you were meant to change the oil in petrol vehicles ? ! I only ever change oil every 7.5K in our diesels to give me 25 mins not having to listen to the relaxing clatter of the donk :geek:

Postby Brett05 on Sat Jan 07, 2012 4:29 am

Forgot about this thread.....:)
About 8 months ago, I had my truck broken into...:(....they took all my loose change and the tap/valve I hadn't installed...:(....might have to invest in another one....and fit it up this time
If I pushed a copy of myself off a cliff, because he was swearing. Could I be charged with making an obscene clone fall ?
