Just a bit of an update - I recently bought a Pelican Spacecase (900x550x400) to sit in the back of the tray to house the dual-battery system and recovery gear. I wanted something that I could bolt to the floor and was lockable, as we weren't intending on getting a canopy at this stage.
The dual battery system consists of an Optima D31A Yellow-Top AGM (75Ah) battery, a CTEK D250S Dual charger, Baintech 6-way fuse block and CTEK MXS10 to top up the batteries if needed. I also mounted a Baintech mini digital volt meter to the side of the box to keep an eye on the battery. A huge thank you to 61rth, who answered the million-and-one questions I had along the way.
I made sure to leave space on the side to fit the ARB Premium Recovery Kit, so this could also be locked away. However plans have changed (again) and we're getting a canopy now, so although I'm really happy with how the box turned out - I think there would have been a more space and cost-effective option to store the battery system. It also makes getting to the recovery gear a task, so I'll probably swap in some 'less used' gear once the canopy is on.
We also bought a set of Korr lights from the Brisbane 4x4 Show to install in the OzTent and inside the tray/canopy. The set we bought was their 4-Bar Camp Kit. So far we've been really impressed by not only the brightness of these lights, but how tough they are! The guy was smashing them on the bench and dunking them in water in their demo - quite impressive.
Tray-cey is booked in for, what I hope will be the last round of accessories for a while, on 16th to 18th May.
She'll be getting the canopy installed with internal bracing and steel rack incorporating jack & shovel holder, awning, diff breather extensions, reverse camera and Warn 9.5XP winch.
I also need to get around to getting a Boab water tank for the tray and installing the LED reverse lights from Prestige Offroad.
An update on the suspension now that it's settled in:
Stock --> Day of Lift --> 4 Months Later
Driv side front: 522mm --> 571mm (+49mm) --> 567mm (-4mm) (+45mm overall)
Pass side front: 518mm --> 570mm (+52mm) --> 565mm (-5mm) (+47mm overall)
Driv side rear: 573mm --> 639mm (+66mm) --> 636mm (-3mm) (+63mm overall)
Pass side rear: 569mm --> 635mm (+66mm) --> 635mm (-0mm) (+66mm overall)
I'm a little concerned how much it will drop when the additional accessories are installed, but I'll measure again after it's done.
And just a couple of picks of our new sleeping setup:
We got the OzTent RV-4 with the fly, peaked side walls and deluxe front panel, which sits perfectly (size-wise) on the CGEAR Multimat (6mx2.4m). Bloody love it once it's all setup, but probably a bit much for one nighters (which will be most of our upcoming trip
) 30 second tent is now a 30 minute tent
ah well.
