Fumoto oil drain valve

Hi all, do you need the ADP106 adaptor or can you bolt on the F106N directly? Haven't down an oil change yet but after years of accidental spills, dropping the plug into the tray and scalded hands this is the solution...now if someone can make a device to drain the oil filter before removing, my garage floor would love to hear from you ;)

The f106n screws straight in. No adaptor needed.

Shouldn't need an adaptor, should just screw in.

Did my first oil change with the fumoto valve. :D :D :D.
Why didn't i do it earlier?
The less I have to take the bash plate of the better......they are getting harder and harder to get back on.
Next time they come off I'll be drilling a hole in the rear one to make it even easier to slip a hose over the nipple of the fumoto 8-)

if they did steal it you could send them an extortionate labour bill for the service you had to do to replace it plus the inflated cost of the replacement part and oil! dont forget to throw oil all over the engine and forget to clean it for authenticity!

How do you guys use this valve? I have one under mine and found it doesn't drain the sump fully. Do you use the valve to let the oil out until it drips and then take the valve out to dump the remaining oil?
Don't get me wrong, I love this valve!
I think the threaded part of the valve is a bit too long...anyone had the same observation?

Never thought about that, how much oil comes out after you remove the Fumoto ?

can't give you a figure to be honest, but I remember a glob of oil dropping out after removing the valve and thinking it may have formed a 'lip' at the drain.

Interesting, maybe someone with access to a removed sump could have a look at what's happening on the other side?
Surely a quick mod with a dremel or similar to cut a small drainage channel into the top that only reaches down 2 or 3 threads could fix it?
Cheers,

Their is plenty of places that holds residue oil including the oil pump ....so a tittle bit of oil leftover in the sump will make no difference......if you got all of the reside out of a motor you would be looking at around 1/2to 1 ltr...

Agreed. It's not like it's one of those smooth running, clean and powerful V6s that only need 4.5 litres of oil. The diesels use twice as much, twice as often, so any left in the bottom of the sump, or anywhere else, isn't going to make any difference. ;)

Gees mate it's not exclusively reserved to diesels all motors have residue oil after draining....but you knew that didn't you

oh well, in that case, no need to worry then
it was just the case of any solid gunk or metal shavings that might stay in the sump due to the valve which would otherwise get pushed out along with the used oil. But then considering how much residue oil still remains in the engine, it seems like its nothing to lose sleep over. :D

I'd say 3/8 - http://www.qwikvalve.com/3-8-ID-x-3FT-Clear-Vinyl-Tubing.html

I think I've used 10mm air hose before but no guarantees on that one, it was just whatever clear hose I saw first in the garage. The clear non-reinforced stuff like that linked to above is the easiest since it will stretch if you get too small a hose and you can see the oil running. Clark rubber maybe? It doesn't need to be the tightest fit in the world as there's no pressure, but obviously you don't want it dropping off mid-stream either.

CD is correct, ie, just use 10mm ID clear soft PVC tube as it 'stretches' enough to go over the 11mm OD 'lip' at the leading edge of the drain 'nipple' on the F106N valve. I bought mine from Bunnings, in their Gardening Dept. Only issue is that you have to buy it from there in a 5M roll, when you really only need a short length of it. :x Oh well, the leftover is just something else I'll use to clutter up my shed some more.
