few hours spent looking around the watagans today with a mate in a capable FJ cruiser..
There are some holes in that place that would drown a vehicle with a snorkel.
My GPS died part way through, all i can remember is Blowfly, Boggyhole or bogeyhole and bruknerville Gap track. no stuckages, 1 chicken track, TC and towbar had a hard time tho
the aftermath

no piccies taken on the tracks :(

in great news the new AC and Alternator belts have silenced my annoying squeek from the engine bay.
the Turbo has put some new life into the engine that i didnt even know that i was missing.
the clutch that hadnt changed anything noticable since day 1 it had always been stiff is like a cloud..
all for $183 they deemed them warranty items..

a few mates and i went for a trip to Barrington tops.

one new addition was an ebay 24" lightbar, removable to keep the friends in blue happy. it needs small tidy up job of proper termination of the wires in a single plug not 2 bullet crimp plugs.

i still havent got around the the poker table, i got carried away on a clean up mission in my shed. the last of it is the hoist system for the RTT. which is lucky because while driving around town the day after i got back I cracked my roof top tent frame

So it's in for a warranty job in my shed and a few other mods. Cutting 100mm off the entire length for carrying things external like spare tyres and or jerry can. And lifting the tent 75mm for solar panel on slide.

Small updates.

Lifted the tent for the solar panel. Not happy with the height gain.
going for the removeable and extension lead method, it might get retired to the shed roof as a permanent battery chargers. smaller panels will be purchased and mounted to future toolboxes
steel frame is getting braced at the rear, and replaced with 2 Al toolboxes with 2 swing away carriers mounted in the tray running no sideboards in touring spec.

what the interpretation of the new bullbar laws in regards to brush bars? im prepared to remove but dont really want to.

long range tank fitted 125L long ranger ready for a trek to the brindabellas :)

another small update this build is almost over, im not selling the vehicle its with me till it cant

ive been on this forum for about 5 years now. this place has taught me a great deal, this place has also cost me a great deal.
All i wanted was a 4wd that i could load dirtbikes on and go fetch them if they broke down. Thats exactly what i got.
My Ute morphed into a heaps better machine, I still remember my first trip with Daryn, Alco, Geek, Stormtrooper, Cow and Diddy on stockton beach these blokes taught me how to drive and these people made this forum what it was. all the people who want/ed to talk to me and i want to talk to i have on facebook:D

but this place has changed :/ im a little bit over the Nitty gritty opinionated stuff. at first i could just ignore it but so many posts now, the same crap gets dragged up.

Im not closing my account, but i wont be logging back on anymore unless i need to sift through the crap to find the old useful info.

and remember people hated the ML then the MN came out, people hated the MN then the MT came out. in terms of 4wding ability i think its a dieing breed.

a very thankful

Well my friend and this is certainly directed at those who were here before me. It is with great regret that I inform you that a member has passed away.
amalinze has passed away and he was crook for quiet a while.
I worked with this man and he was a good man, viewed by many as extreme or exotic as shown by his thirst for methanol jnjection on his triton.

I'm not sure how to feel right about now but I'm glad he is resting easier.

I'm sure this won't reach a lot of people who knew him as people leave without much notice but I thought I would pass the info on and serve this as a memory that he will be dearly missed

RIP my friend

I clearly remember his build.......he wasn't really interested in the conventional 4wd mods but was very passionate about his performance stuff. 8-)

He defiantly put up a fight.

Hey team, thought I'd drop in again its been a while.

not much has changed with the triton, installed a 60L poly water tank all gravity fed just less stuff to go wrong. the tri will be starting to dial back into a conservative 4wd.
I should be taking ownership of a FJ45 that is in pretty good knick just needs seals both oil and rubber perishing from age. its got a few km on it and will probably get an engine swap its early days of research but probably a 12HT but not for a while. then update, it's going to be a very slow process; I've just started Uni that's going to take about 8 years.

This is for those who have been on here alot longer then I and probably those who pop back occasionally.
I like the idea of a Alias and real names shouldnt be used unless it was OK'd but this is for a good cause.
It was Amalinze's Birthday the other day and this popped up on my facebook wall.
https://www.curebraincancer.org.au/tribute/stephen-mcinerney

While im Here i might talk Utes.
The triton is going well. The bashplates copped a hit in the high country and has upset the front Diff. too far in for me to do confidently yet so i got a mechanic coming to sort that out for me.

The FJ is up on Stands just replacing everything electrical on the outside and brakes then off for rego check.
and finally Uni.. its crap 7 years to go

God speed gentleman
