So after making my first set the first thing I wanted to try was to reduce the weight of the main carcass. So I cut the bulk of the plywood out still leaving a very strong and light frame.
Having no solid sides this could cause an issue with the storage area near the wheel arches with items falling behind the draws when open. So I decided to build solid boxes to the shape of the triton for maximum storage. And would give me a nice solid base for a second battery or compressor.
While building the frame I thought a future cable run may come in handy.
Not necessary but gave everything a quick coat of paint.
I was happy with the performance of the HDPE draw slides, but did not like the top of the draws rubbing on the carcass when open so made some HDPE top guides which can support the draws nearly fully opened.
I decided on carpet as it was cheaper easy to install and quick, the side boxes were done and I added a few switches.
The tops I did in five removable section, for easy cleaning I thought pretty hard to climb into a 300mm x 500mm x 1500mm draw space to clean and spray runners with silicone spray.
My front protective edge does a couple of things, I installed and led light and rebated and hinged to lock the draws shut, the draws also have a rubber seal all round for dust proofing and a bit of a buffer.
Still waiting for handles to arrive and i have been working on a concealed draw, and light weight folding table for inside the main draws.
