8-) Yes I'm looking forward to seeing this camper too. Hurry up would you.

Looks like a good design so far ;-) Is the frame Alloy? How much do you expect the total weight to be?

The frame is galvanized steel, the weight will be around 200kg dry, it depends on the internal distribution, furnitures and accessories that will be installed.

Chris

If work is so terrific, why do they have to pay us to do it?

With the Mickey Thompson wheels and the new front bumper the tires rub a little bit when the steering is turned, I´ll be trimming the lower bumper área to avoid that

It´s been a whyle from my last post. So here is the update.
The Pop Up Camper had a modification at the open up system, first it´s designed to open all around but after fight with the design and weight I decided to change the all idea and just open by one side using hinges and struts so is easier and lighter. CLICK THE IMAGE

Looking very good Valerio, some serious thought and engineering there.

But I can't believe you're still persisting with that Ac unit... Why not a 12v roof mounted fan... Trust me they do work well.

Thanks Smilies. Not enough time to finish it when I want it, but getting there. :?
With the A/C vs Roof Fan I can tell you that after some real hot weather and no wind trips all family decided to use the A/C instead the fan, besides the A/C is cheaper than the fan, the generator is always with us in all trips for illumination, battery charger, etc and remember here in Venezuela the gasoline is almost free. 0.00026 US $ / liter (I suppose you can´t believe it, but these is some of the weird thing about a third world country combined with the biggest oil reserves in the world) so when we fill the triton fuel tank, the two jerry cans you saw at the camper´s back and a litlle one for the kitchen wich run with gasoline either the fuel ticket is 0.0268 US $ (basically is free) so with the diff between the cost of the A/C vs Roof Fan I can run the A/C for several years 8-), At the end it´s a decision of weight and temperature over everything else, and the newest A/C is very lightweight.

Schmick rig. Have you got some interior pics of your current setup?

Free fuel! Maybe as Australia is heading to third world status our fuel will gradually become 'free'.

Ah! The mad junk and his capitalist cronies won't give up a cent.

With all the resources you've got available, have you considered molding up your own modified flare extension, say with a curve towards the fog light?

Thanks to all you guys. The interior is going at different speed because it depends on the guys from the upholstery and the guys of the tents factory, right now is only layered in the walls and roof with ¨Thermofoam¨ wich is an isolation cover, it was used instead the sprayed ¨polyurethane¨ we use at the buses because of the lighter weight and the final finish it`s easier to cover with the ¨ bone whyte vinyl¨ wich will be used for the walls and roof interior finish, like the small boats cabins.
I´ll post some pictures to make it easier to undertand, Sorry about my english

Mate… I know you are probably kidding ;) but believe me it´s better to pay US $ 1 a liter than has to pay US $ 20.000 to get the vehicle armoured because your life worth nothing to the bad guys and the ¨socialist¨government.

About the flares…. I already bought the Challenger flares, but not has been installed yet, I think it has to be modified to fit under the snorkel because of the height. I´m not a fan of the big flares like the guys from Thayland make.

Yes, its sad that south American countries have such fantastic countyside, resources and culture to be offset by the greed, corruption and organised crime.

So how risky is it going four wheel driving and camping away from the population centres?

My biggest worry here is getting some city weekend warrior speeding at you round a bend in the bush or copping a stray bullet from some nut bag shooter.

There are some places that are sort of risky but there are too much safe places to visit.
